WallStock Rocked!

Conversations

Paula and I performed at WallStock on Saturday night as planned.

I know that I am a terrible guitar player, and I’ve always thought that my singing was, at best, something people would forgive me for.  I’m a songwriter of sorts, but I refuse to believe that I’m any good at that either.

But I do take pride in doing the best I can, and I had worked out a little “show” in my mind for the event.  When I got on the stage following the delightful Twilighters though, my little “show” kind of went to pot, and it was my fault.  I got nervous, so nervous actually that I sneezed through the first five minutes or so.  I really froze, and only ended up playing half of what I intended to.

But then, I was invited to play with local band Black Velvet through their set.  Their other guitarist couldn’t make it, so I was suddenly part of the band, which by the end of the night included a substitute bassist as well.  I had a blast, and ended up singing all of the songs that the guy I replaced normally sings.  I was rather impressed with my timing singing with a bar-band.  And when I finally crawled off the stage and realized that my shoulder was killing me, everyone said I did a good job.  They’re so nice to me!

Thank you to Jonny and Mike for letting me be a part of your show, and thank you to the members of Black Velvet for putting up with me.  And good luck, WHS seniors on your trip to New York City!

To alleviate an attack of nerves before speaking or performing before the public, you’re supposed to imagine everybody in the crowd naked. Sorry, I wasn’t able to give you this advice before you performed.

Wish I could have been there.

So when can we expect you to be on the Jim Thompson show? Might work out to help on the campaign for your brother.
