The ESN; Unseasonable Weather

Elm Springs News

After the wettest winter on record and the driest May on record, the kind citizens are experiencing what looks to be the wettest and coolest June on record. Many of them are wondering if they will ever get to put up any hay.

The Elm Springs Hall Board had their annual meeting Tuesday night.

And several of the kind citizens bundled up either Saturday or Sunday to attend the Wall High School Regional Rodeo. Among these were the Sam Johnstons, who were there to cheer Calder in the roping events and the saddlebronc riding.

Randy Volmer and Sherry Ligett were married Saturday afternoon at the Wicksville Church. Their original plan was to celebrate the wedding and reception at the Bootjack Ranch, but the weather forced the occasion indoors.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders joined Casey and Shirley Trask in Rapid City Sunday for brunch.

The Ryan Elsheres traveled to Denver CO Thursday where Rylan received his last checkup and a clean bill of health. On Saturday, Corey Levine accompanied Ryan and Chrissy to Ft. Pierre, where Ryan competed in the Matched Bronc Ride.

Larry Gravatt went to Rapid City and Sturgis Monday on business. On Thursday, Ken Miller and his friends Bob and Hank arrived at the Gravatt residence from Pennsylvania and stayed until Saturday afternoon. The Mike Millers of Denver CO visited the Gravatt residence Friday, where they left Abigail and Grant Miller and the dog before attending the Black Hills Marathon. Saturday, the Gravatts and Millers visited Wall Drug, and Sunday Larry and Peggy returned the kids and dog to their parents in Deadwood. The Millers left for Denver Sunday, and Larry and Peggy spent the night in Deadwood.

The Andy Linns met the Jamie Brunsch’s in Rapid City on Sunday to watch a movie in an early celebration of Emily Linn’s birthday.

Andy Linn was a coffee visitor at the Morris Linn residence Monday morning. Morris and Shirrise went to Rapid City on business Wednesday, having supper with Gene and Marsha Pluth, while Kassandra spent the night at the “Big House.” Shirrise and Kassandra went to Wall Friday on business. Andy Linn was a return coffee visitor Saturday morning, and Bunny Bail and Mazee Pauley visited the Morris Linn residence Saturday afternoon to watch the Belmont Stakes. Morris visited the Cary Tines and Ray Olsen residences Sunday afternoon.

Matt Trask was a supper guest at the Cary Tines residence Wednesday evening.

The Jonathan Madrids of Columbus OH were weeklong visitors at Al and Bridgets Castle. On Sunday, Jonathan and Kelly Madrid served as Joseph Benedict Trasks godparents at his baptism in Wall, followed by supper at the “Upland Trask” residence.

Tom Bruch visited the “Upland Trask” residence over the weekend.

The kind citizens sure hope it dries up around here.
