After last weekend’s snowstorm, Elm Springs received some form of moisture every day until Thursday afternoon. The final total was somewhere around an inch and a quarter of precipitation, and the kind citizens breathed a huge sigh of relief.
As a testament to how dry it is, by Sunday, vehicles were once again kicking up dust around Elm Springs.
On an absolutely glorious Sunday afternoon, the Elm Springs Church was filled to capacity as Alyssa June Scott, infant daughter of David and Tina Scott, was dedicated to the Lord by the Rev. Harold Delbridge.
The kind Catholics of Elm Springs helped organize a potluck dinner to celebrate Fr. Leo Hausmann’s Friday birthday, after mass on Saturday.
Carolyn Anders and Shirley Trask went to Rapid City Monday on business. Carolyn went to Sturgis Tuesday, and spent Tuesday night at the Wilbur and Jean Bachand residence. Poor Marvin didn’t get to kick up his heels at all.
Dunbar Anders left early Saturday morning with the Wall FFA group for the state convention in Brookings.
Clyde and Lonnie Arneson accompanied Morris and Andy Linn to the Trask, Shearer and Pederson bull sale in Philip on Wednesday.
Clyde Arneson was a coffee guest at the Lawrence Burke residence both Monday and Friday. Doris Burke guessed that “he really likes our coffee.” Lawrence attended the Black Hills Gun Show at the Civic Center in Rapid City on Friday. And turkey hunters Skyler Burke and Ryan Timme visited the Burke residence Sunday in search of lunch, which they found.
Ryan Elshere visited the Matt Trask residence Tuesday afternoon. Clyde Arnseon was a Thursday dinner guest at the Ryan Elshere residence, and a Sunday afternoon visitor as well.
Cary, Carlee, and Savanna Johnston were accompanied by Twila Trask of Wall to the track meet in Belle Fourche on Saturday, where they cheered for the Wall Eagles and various relatives on the Belle Fourche Broncs track team. Carter Elshere visited the Sam Johnston residence on Sunday before church, and Emily Linn visited after.
Shirrise Linn attended a stamp party in Wall Monday before visiting the Sanden Simons residence. Morris Linn and Ray Olsen went to Rapid City Tuesday for appointments. Shirrise and Kassandra went to Rapid City Wednesday to keep appointments and visit Grandma Arlene Talley. On the way home, they stopped to wish Bunny Bail a happy birthday. Amber Brookman of Rapid City arrived at the Morris Linn residence Saturday afternoon for an overnight stay. Sunday visitors at the Morris Linn residence were Matt, Nick, Julie and Celine Trask.
Bunny Bail was a coffee visitor at the Cary Tines residence Monday morning. Cary Tines met Jeff Meinen in Wasta on Saturday, and they went to Wall to pick up a pig which they had had butchered. Several of the Tines’ attended the steak feed in Wasta on Saturday night. John, Amanda and Lainee Mae spent the weekend at the Cary Tines residence.
The Al Trasks attempted to go to Rapid City on Thursday, but decided it was too muddy and turned around. They were successful in their attempt on Friday, where they met with Nick Trask on business before leaving Little Pat at the Paul Yantes Jr. residence to enjoy supper. Nick Trask visited “the Castle” on Saturday. The Paul Yantes Jrs. and Kenny and Janet Wilson visited on Sunday.
RoseMary and Austin Trask went to Rapid City Wednesday for appointments. Dr. Jim Macdougall and his friends Dan and Mike were supper guests at the “Upland Trask” residence Thursday evening. Pat, Nick and Julie Trask were joined by Steph at the Lincoln Day Dinner in Spearfish on Friday night. Austin and Gemma accompanied the Wall Eagles track team to Belle Fourche on Saturday, and Joe went to Wall Saturday afternoon, where he ended up spending the night. Jesse Lewis of Rapid City visited the “Upland Trask” residence Saturday afternoon. Sunday visitors were Ray Olsen and Morris Linn.
Matt Trask was invited by his friends Jonathan Arnio and Micheal Swan to perform at the WallStock concert in Wall Saturday night, and was given a free meal t icket for his “troubles.” After a half hour or so performing by himself, he somehow was invited to play with local band “Black Velvet” during their set. Todd Trask of Wasta visited the Matt Trask residence Sunday morning, and Matt had lunch in New Underwood, courtesy of the very gracious Bud and Peg Ireland.
The “Elk Creek Trasks” hosted Kenny, Janet and Philip Wilson and Rick and Shania Johnston for supper Saturday night. Early Sunday morning, the “Elk Creek Trask” children left with the Philip FFA group for the state convention in Brookings.
Mary Kay Wilson left Wednesday for Brookings, where she attended a scholarship dinner with Pam. From there, she went to Minneapolis, MN to visit the Josh Wolbergs and Beth Wilson.
Bruce Baird of Baghdad, AZ arrived at the Melvin and Dorothy Anderson residence on Wednesday and spent the remainder of the week. Wednesday evening, the Andersons hosted a birthday supper for Bunny Bail. Besides the birthday girl and her family, guests were John and Darlene Wulf and Jim and Caroline Wilsey.
The Elm Springs Church will hold services again this Sunday the 20th, to get back on schedule.
And there will be a benefit supper for Cooper MacKaben, son of Josh and Cori MacKaben at the Faith Community Legion Hall at three o’clock pm on Sunday, April 20th.
And finally, everyone is invited to the Paul Schultes residence for a potluck on Sunday the 27th of April, featuring an address by syndicated broadcaster Derry Brownfield. For directions, call Paul or Laurel at 985-5233.
