The ESN; Happy New Year!

Elm Springs News

On Wednesday night, the kind citizens joined the rest of the world in saying goodbye to 2008, a year most notable in Elm Springs for its abundance of precipitation, 25.16 inches to be exact. That figure is well above the average of 12 to 14, and more than the last several years combined.

The kind citizens were relatively quiet in their farewell, actually.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders spent New Year’s Eve at home, quietly battling the flu. On Sunday, they welcomed the Rod Anders and the Casey Trasks for dinner.

Clyde and Kelsey Arneson were supper guests at the Lonnie Arneson residence on Tuesday night. On New Year’s Day, they dined with Connie at the New Underwood Arneson residence. Clyde made a quick trip to New Underwood Sunday to get parts.

Lonnie Arneson and Teri Ramsdell went to Rapid City Friday evening, where they had supper with the Travis Arnesons and Lauren Ramsdell.

Ryan and Chrissy Elshere went to a rodeo in Gillette WY New Year’s Eve, leaving the kids to stay at the Marcia Arneson residence in Rapid City. On New Year’s Day, the Ryan Elsheres joined the JJ Elsheres, the Bill Eastmans, and the Travis Arnesons at the Watiki Waterpark near Rapid City.

The Sam Johnstons went to Rapid City Wednesday afternoon to pick up Twila Trask at the airport. They returned Twila to the “Big Green Trask House” in Wall and visited briefly. New Year’s Day, they visited the Scott and Melody Eisenbraun residence near Wall, where they picked up Calder and visited. Carson Johnston spent Friday night at the Dale McLaughlin residence near Wall, helping Laketon celebrate his birthday.

The Andy Linns went to Rapid City on New Year’s Eve, where they went bowling before staying at the Watiki. They spent New Year’s Day at the Jamie Brunsch residence in Rapid City.

John and Jean Linn visited the Marty Printz residence on New Year’s Day.

Shirrise and Kassandra Linn left Wednesday for Glen Rock WY where they rang in the New Year at the Jim Magee residence. They returned Sunday night.

The Al Trask’s rang in the New Year at the Grady Matt residence near Enning. On Friday night, John Paul Trask and Rod, Kelly and Jonny Jo Anders were supper guests at the Al Trask residence.

Matt Trask visited the John Timmons residence Friday evening. Celine Trask stayed overnight at the Matt Trask residence Saturday night, and Baxter Anders and Chance Trask visited briefly Sunday afternoon.

The “Upland Trasks” hosted a New Year’s Eve get-together in the shop. Visitors included Morris Linn, Bonnie Timmons, Tom, Joe and Matt Bruch and Alicia Konochne, Laramie Opstedahl and Molly Perkins, and Ray Olsen. Nick Trask and Tom Bruch visited the Trent and Betsy Shearer residence early New Year’s Morning. Col. Dennis Wier and about half of his family were supper guests at the “Upland Trask” residence New Year’s Day. Pat and Gemma joined Steph and the Wiers at the Rapid City Rush hockey game in Rapid City Friday night. On Saturday, several of the “Upland Trasks” migrated to Wall in various configurations throughout the afternoon, where eventually most of them ended up at the Ben Smith/Becky Julson wedding reception. Ralph, Don, Debbie and Bailey Bachard visited the “Upland Trask” residence Sunday morning, and Muriel Kjerstad of Wall arrived Sunday evening and spent the night.

Philip and Mary Kay Wilson spent New Year’s Eve at the Stuart Kitterman residence near Wall.

Kenny and Janet Wilson hosted Philip and Mary Kay Wilson and the Justin Tschetters of Rapid City New Year’s Day. Angie Nellen of Hot Springs spent the weekend at the Kenny Wilson residence.

The kind citizens wish you a Happy New Year!
