The ESN; Father’s Day, Sunny Days
It finally warmed up in Elm Springs toward the end of the week, as the kind citizens got down to the business of haying.
Clyde Arneson picked up his family in New Underwood and went to Belle Fourche Sunday to visit Ray and Millie Schmidt for Father’s Day.
Lawrence and Doris Burke went to Rapid City Friday to have lunch with Melissa, Shawnee and Pfc. Skyler Burke. On Sunday, Lawrence, Doris, Melissa and Pfc. Skyler had lunch at the Cedar Pass Lodge.
Peggy Gravatt celebrated her birthday three times during the week; the first on Tuesday during a business run to Rapid City where she and Larry had dinner. The second was on Thursday, her actual birthday, which RoseMary, Maria and Celine Trask visited to celebrate with cake, ice cream and flowers. On Sunday, Larry and Peggy went to Rapid City, where they picked up Ray Jondro before going out to eat with Brad Bookbinder and Jessica Harstad for Father’s Day and Peggy’s birthday. Larry and Peggy stopped in New Underwood to see Jack on the way home.
On Wednesday, Kellie Linn met Rick and Judy Probert of San Ramone, CA at the Elm Springs Cemetery, where Judy visited her grandmother’s grave for the first time. Judy is the daughter of Floyd Pierce, now of Florida, who was born in Elm Springs and moved in his youth. After corresponding with Jean and Kellie Linn, the Proberts visited the Church, Cemetery, and Hall. As Floyd wishes, they are ordering a new headstone for his mother, one that will say “Grace” instead of “Mrs. Elbert. Matt Trask visited the Andy Linn residence to meet the Proberts Wednesday morning. Kayley Brunsch and Maggie the Brunsch’s dog spent most of the week at the Andy Linn residence, until the Brunsch’s visited Saturday and picked her up. On Sunday, the Andy Linn’s visited the Brunsch residence for Father’s Day.
John and Jean Linn attended the Matched Bronc Ride in Philip Friday night.
Shirrise Linn attended a stamp party at the Betty Crown residence in Wall Monday. Morris Linn went to Wall Saturday, and Clyde Arneson visited the Morris Linn residence Saturday night. On Father’s Day, Jack Simons visited in the afternoon and John and Jean Linn visited in the evening.
Clyde and Chase Arneson were coffee visitors at the Cary Tines residence Friday morning. On Sunday, Cary and Pam, Dennis and Tanya Jensen, Stacey Madsen and other friends went on a motorcycle ride to Spearfish.
Matt Trask spent Monday night at the Vivian Hansen residence in Philip, which is the house where his grandmother, Winnie (O’Connell) Trask grew up. Wednesday afternoon, Matt drove to the Timmons ranch. Matt and Bonnie Timmons left Thursday for Parker, where they stayed at the Brian Adix residence. On Friday, Bonnie took her NCLEX examination test. Matt and Bonnie returned to White Owl Saturday, stopping in Alexandria to visit Sr. Maria Magdalena. On Sunday, Matt accompanied Bonnie to the Wenzel family reunion near Enning.
Monday visitors at the “Upland Trask” residence were Steve Wolker of Rapid City and
Katie Stassen of Sioux Falls. Austin Trask spent Tuesday night and Wednesday at the David Hansen residence near Ft. Pierre. Pat went to Platte on business Friday. On Sunday, the “Upland Trasks” met Joe and Iola Carter in Rockerville for dinner, and visited the Steph Trask residence Sunday evening.
Caroline Wilsey went to Rapid City on business Friday.
The Wilson Brothers reported that the snow drift in their spring draw disappeared sometime between Tuesday, when Tim Haugen came to see it, and Friday, when they checked it again.
Philip and Mary Kay Wilson met Patrick Wilson and his girlfriend Lane in Rapid City Sunday and took a motorcycle excursion through the Black Hills.
Lou Vasquez and family of Wright WY visited the Melvin Anderson residence Monday.
Everyone is still invited to Beth Wilson’s wedding shower this Saturday the 27th of June, starting at ten am at the Elm Springs Hall.
The kind citizens hope they get some hay up before it rains again.
