The ESN; Family (Reunion) Tradition
The kind citizen’s combines have taken their first tentative steps into the wheatfields of Elm Springs, as they probably have elsewhere. The consensus is that wheat harvest this year will be a long, drawn out affair.
‘Tis also the season for family reunions, as several families got together to exchange niceties over the weekend.
Matt Trask, Danny Doerr and Baxter Anders were visitors at the Marvin Anders residence Thursday afternoon.
Baxter and Dunny Anders visited the Matt Trask residence Sunday afternoon, to watch Whoever Shows Up practice for their upcoming performance on the Ft. Pierre to Deadwood Trail. After that they accompanied Austin Trask and Ryan Burkinshaw to the Wall swimming pool.
Clyde Arneson reported that he and Chase went to New Underwood Thursday evening where they joined Connie and Kelsey at the New Underwood Arneson residence for a steak supper, “it bein’ my 39th birthday and all.”
Lonnie Arneson and Teri Ramsdell went to New Underwood Saturday to watch Carter Elshere compete in the 4-H rodeo. Sunday evening, the Ryan Elsheres and the Sam Johnstons visited the Lonnie Arneson residence.
Clyde Arneson was a Sunday morning coffee visitor at the Lawrence Burke residence. “I don’t think he preached any sermons, he just had coffee,” said Doris.
The Ryan Elsheres went to New Underwood Saturday, where Carter competed in the 4-H rodeo, winning four saddle blankets.
Peggy Gravatt and Ray Jondro went to Rapid City Thursday on business. Larry, Peggy and Ray went to Rapid City Friday, where they spent the afternoon with Brad Bookbinder and Jessica and Greyson Harstad. Carter Gravatt visited the Larry Gravatt residence Saturday afternoon.
The Linn families attended the Printz family reunion, headquartered in the Old Hotel at Wasta, over the weekend. Sixty Printzes, from as far away as Connecticut, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado, Canada and Germany spent the weekend in Wasta, with trips to the Elm Springs Hall, Fire Hall, Church and Cemetery. The German Printz, if you will, got to ride with Al Trask in Al’s yellow combine, which made his weekend a memorable one.
Shirrise and Kassandra returned to Elm Springs from the Jim Magee residence in Wyoming Monday. Tuesday, Morris and Shirrise went to Rapid City where they had supper with Gene and Marsha Pluth, while Kassandra spent Wednesday night at the “Big House.” Bunny Bail and her girls were Wednesday guests at the Morris Linn residence. Sanden and Elaine Simons of Wall visited the Morris Linn residence Sunday.
John Moore of Sutherland NE visited the Cary Tines residence Monday morning. Friday afternoon, Amanda and Katie Humphrey and Lainee Mae visited the Cary Tines residence. They left to make room for Clyde Arneson, who left shortly before Matt Trask and Bonnie and Patty Jo Timmons visited. Cary and Pam Tines attended Tom Tines’ 40th birthday party at Lurz Memorial Park in Wasta on Saturday.
John Paul Trask arrived in Rapid City Monday evening from Australia, where he participated in World Youth Day. He had supper in Rapid City with Pat and Stephanie Trask, spending Monday night at the Stephanie Trask residence before driving to the “Upland Trask” residence Tuesday morning. Sam Heikus of Pierre was an overnight guest at the “Upland Trask” residence Wednesday. Matt and Julie Trask attended the Adam Rislov/Megan Lurz wedding and reception in Wall Saturday evening. Julie went to Rapid City to join several “Upland Trasks” at the Colonial House restaurant, where Stephanie now works as a waitress. Nick and Julie Trask spent Saturday night at the Stephanie Trask residence in Rapid City. Several of the “Upland Trasks” attended the Bruch family reunion in the Black Hills Sunday before eating in Rapid City with Bob Heidgerken and Ward Wulf.
Matt Trask went to Rapid City Wednesday before visiting the John Timmons residence to help Ms. Bonnie Timmons celebrate her birthday. Thursday, Matt visited the Grady Matt residence to pick up the horse trailer he refers to as his “trailer house,” as he will be living in it during the Ft. Pierre to Deadwood Trailride. Bonnie and Patty Jo Timmons visited the Matt Trask residence Friday afternoon, and Bonnie Timmons, Austin Trask, the Anders brothers and Ryan Burkinshaw visited Sunday afternoon. Matt and Bonnie visited the “Upland Trask” residence Sunday afternoon as well, where they got to visit with John Paul, who was oddly enough the only one home.
Jim and Caroline Wilsey attended the George Wilsey family reunion in Hill City Thursday. On Saturday they drove grandson Zach Wilsey to Chamberlain to meet his mother.
Philip and Mary Kay Wilson returned from their pre-harvest getaway Monday. They had motorcycled to Hoven to visit Darrell and Norma Harer.
The kind citizens hope you have a lovely week.
