The ESN; Cows & Cold
Although the days are getting shorter and colder, Elm Springs as yet has not had its first big frost of the season. The kind citizens are waiting.
Some of the kind citizens attended the WREA Annual meeting in Wall on Saturday.
The Elm Springs People Who Play Cards met for the first court whist game of the season at the Marvin and Carolyn Anders residence Wednesday night. New members for the year are Nick Trask, and from across the river, Chance Trask. Wednesday nights substitutes included Gordon and Silke Printz of Montrose, CO.
Chance Trask spent Wednesday night at the Marvin Anders residence.
Clyde Arneson went to Sturgis Friday on business.
John and Darlene Wulf visited the Lawrence Burke residence Monday afternoon, and Clyde Arneson visited Tuesday morning.
The Ryan Elsheres spent the weekend in Minot ND where they attended the Badlands Circuit Rodeo Finals.
John and Darlene Wulf also visited the Larry Gravatt residence Monday afternoon, and the Gravatt’s other visitor was Norma Pellegrin, who visited Thursday morning.
The Linn news could get very confusing this week, but bear with us. Gordon and Silke Printz, of Montrose, CO, accompanied by Jorg and Maren Hermann of Brennan Germany, arrived at the “Big House” Monday afternoon, where they stayed until Saturday. They were entertained by nearly all the Linns at some point, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves or at least pretended to while working cattle in all of the best weather that South Dakota has to offer. Silke Printz wisely chose to spend most of her time playing cards with Grandma Jean Linn. Kassandra Linn spent several afternoons at the “Big House” as well.
Shirrise Linn went to Rapid City Monday with Misty and Andoryn Walker for lunch and errands, and Matt Trask was a Monday evening visitor at the Morris Linn residence. On Tuesday, Matt accompanied Morris to the Roger Shull residence near Creighton. The bothersome Matt Trask was a coffee visitor Wednesday morning at the Morris Linn residence. Shirrise and Jack Simons left for Rochester, MN Wednesday morning, while Kassandra went to her piano lesson in Wall with Cary Johnston. Wednesday afternoon visitors at the Morris Linn residence were Matt Trask, Roger Shull and Scott Shoun. Shirrise and Jack Simons returned from Rochester Sunday night.
Andrew Smith of Pierre and Gary Smith of Rapid City spent the weekend at the Jim Smith residence.
Morris Linn, Roger Shull, Matt Trask and Scott Shoun visited the Cary Tines residence Wednesday afternoon. Lainee Mae arrived at the Tines residence Thursday to spent the weekend, and Max and Sarah Miller of Douglas WY arrived Thursday to spend two days. Saturday night visitors at the Tines residence were John Tines and Amanda Humphrey, Monte and Loni Riechert of Hereford, Dennis and Tanya Jensen of New Underwood, and Jesse and Delynn Willis of New Underwood. Sunday visitors were John and Amanda, Dennis and Tanya, Jim Tines and Louisa Lang of Wasta, Ty Tines and Danielle, and Coby Tines and Cassidy Rieb.
Matt Trask spent Thursday night at the Wilson residence in Wall with Kenny, Philip, Tyler and Patrick Wilson. Saturday night, he visited the John Timmons residence, and Sunday, Matt, Bonnie and Patty Timmons accompanied the Chance Dennis’ to a Polish potluck in Faith.
Laramie Opstedahl, Molly Perkins, Dr. Jim MacDougall and his friend Randy were all visitors to the “Upland Trask” residence Thursday morning, and Philip and Kenny Wilson and Jim Smith visited briefly Thursday afternoon. John Paul Trask, currently of Winona, MN; Joe Trask, currently of Brookings, and Julie Trask of Ft. Collins CO arrived separately at the “Upland Trask” residence Friday night and Saturday morning. Nick Trask and Morris Linn visited Jim MacDougalls hunting camp Saturday night.
Jim and Caroline Wilsey did not get to report that they attended a housewarming party for Jeff and Marilyn Wilsey near Pedro, nor that fellow party goers Wes and Joanne Wilsey of Hay Springs NE spent Sunday night at the Jim Wilsey residence. Thursday afternoon, Bruce Wilsey and Dan and Ray Konz of the Sioux Falls area visited the Jim Wilsey residence. Bruce returned Sunday afternoon with Brian Folds.
The Wilson Brothers moved their cows home from the Pipal Place over the weekend, and Patrick Wilson and the Tyler Wilson family came out to help. On Saturday afternoon, Andy, Ben and Jacob Linn, Matt Trask, Gordon Printz, and Jorg and Maren Hermann joined the Wilsons for dinner at the Philip Wilson residence. The Tyler Wilsons left Saturday afternoon for Newcastle WY.
Amy, Mary and Sam Wolberg of Minneapolis, MN arrived at the Philip Wilson residence Sunday evening.
The kind citizens hope you’re staying warm.
