The ESN; A Very Merry Christmas

As his present to us, the Newborn Savior gifted us with much warmer weather for His birthday and throughout the rest of the week. The kind citizens got to spend less time chopping ice out of water tanks and more time making merry.

“Whoever Shows Up” played at St. Margarets Christmas Eve Mass. This year, “WSU” included Matt Trask and Bonnie Timmons on guitar and Austin Trask on bass, with Gary Smith and Celine Trask alternating as soloists, on the violin and clarinet respectively.

Marvin and Caroline Anders were joined by the Rod Anders and the Casey Trasks at the Jo Strong residence Christmas Day.

Clyde and Kelsea Arneson went to Wall on business Monday. Clyde went to New Underwood to celebrate Christmas Eve at the New Underwood Arneson residence, and returned Christmas Day, where the Arnesons were joined by Ray, Millie and Bruce Schmidt and the Brian Schmidt family. On Sunday, Clyde and Connie attended the belated wedding anniversary party for Danny and Bobbi Ann Arneson in Sturgis.

Lawrence and Doris Burke welcomed Melissa, PFC Skyler and Shawnee Burke to their house Christmas Day.

The Ryan Elsheres joined the Elshere family at the Paul and Joy Elshere residence in Philip Christmas Day, visiting the Lonnie Arneson residence that evening. On Saturday, the Elshere family celebrated a second Christmas at the Jim and Lana Elshere residence near Midland.

Rob and Heather Langley and family of Sioux Falls arrived at the Lynn and Sandy Fields residence on Monday. Sandy, on her way to Wasta to meet the wholesale truck, met them on the road, and Cheyenne Langley accompanied her on a country shopping experience. On the way back they visited the Andy Linn residence to drop off some groceries, and Trina Arneson visited the Lynn Fields residence Monday afternoon to pick up hers. The Langleys visited Mystic Miner Mountain Ski resort on Wednesday, and were joined by Leona Fields, Bob, Gayla and Wade Parker of Lodgepole and Kyle Stephanie and Sophia Kennedy of Hettinger, ND at the Lynn Fields residence Christmas Day, although the Langley’s had to leave that afternoon.

Ray Jondro arrived at the Larry and Peggy Gravatt residence Christmas Eve, and on Christmas Day he was joined by Jack Gravatt, the Barry Gravatts, the Byron Denke’s, the Mike Millers of Denver, the Scott Ericksons of Rapid City, Brad Bookbinder and Jess, Spencer and Grey Harstad of Sioux Falls. Brad and the Harstads spent the remainder of the week at the Larry Gravatt residence.

The Sam Johnstons joined the Scott Jensens of Douglas WY and the Kim Klings of Belle Fourche at Terry Peak on Christmas Eve and spent Christmas Day at the Norma Pellegrin residence in New Underwood. On Sunday they went to Wall, where they had dinner at the Red Rock Restaurant with Richard and Martha Johnston.

The Andy Linns went to the “Big House” for Christmas Eve and returned Christmas Day. Kellie and Ben accompanied Grandma Jean to Rapid City on Saturday.

John and Jean Linn went to Rapid City Monday to pick up Laura and Katie Wilsey. The girls were joined by Brett and Charlotte Wednesday, and the family returned to Rapid City Friday.

Sandy Van Vleck of Rapid City was an overnight guest at the Morris Linn residence Monday night, while Matt Trask was a supper visitor. Morris went to Rapid City Tuesday, where he had lunch with Gene Pluth and Roger Shull. The Morris Linns celebrated Christmas Eve at the “Big House,” and then had a relatively quiet Christmas Day at home with Jack Simons, JW and Dara Wrachford and Sean Troxel. Clyde Arneson visited the Morris Linn residence Friday evening, and the Morris Linns went to a Simons Christmas party at the Sanden Simons residence in Wall.

All of Jim and Myrna Smiths children were home by Christmas Eve, as was Hazel Stadel of Isabel. They were joined by Maxine Smith Christmas Day.

Cary and Pam Tines hosted all of their children, JW and Dara Wrachford and Sean Troxel Christmas Eve and visited the Ronnie and Joan Racicky residence in New Underwood Christmas Day. Matt Trask visited the Cary Tines residence for supper Friday night.

The Al Trasks visited the “Upland Trask” residence Christmas Day afternoon, as it were.

Cathy, Bonnie and Patty Timmons visited the Matt Trask residence Wednesday afternoon, and Matt spent Christmas Eve at the John Timmons residence. Matt, Bonnie and Patty Timmons spent Christmas Day at the “Upland Trask” residence. On Saturday, Matt and Bonnie went to Wall Drug before visiting the Mike and Anita Heathershaw residence near Quinn.

The “Upland Trasks” made numerous shopping trips during the week. Nick Trask spent Tuesday night at the Steph Trask residence in Rapid City. Tom Bruch of Bear Butte and Ray Olsen joined the “Upland Trasks” for Christmas Eve supper, and again on Christmas Day. Other visitors during the week were Ralph Bachard and Ryan Kjerstad of Quinn. Several of the “Upland Trasks” went to Rapid City Sunday night, where they watched a movie.

The “Elk Creek Trasks” celebrated Christmas Eve at the Bill McDaniels residence near Philip.

Kevin and Brenda Konstanty and family spent the week at the Jim Wilsey residence before returning for Houston TX on Saturday. The Kent Wilseys of North Carolina arrived Friday to take their place. On Saturday, Caroline and Kent went to Rapid City on business, and Caroline, Kent and Zarah visited the Bunny Bail residence. Scott and Logan Wilson and Dirk of Gillette WY visited the Jim Wilsey residence Sunday.

Philip and Mary Kay Wilson welcomed Pam home from Brookings on Tuesday and Beth home from Minneapolis MN on Wednesday. They were joined by Patrick Christmas Day. Pam’s boyfriend Matt Tesch of Fargo ND arrived at the Philip Wilson residence on Sunday.

The Elm Springs Church will hold services the 4th of January at 2 pm.
