The ESN; A Cold, Cold Christmas
It was cold in Elm Springs this past week, terribly bitterly cold, and not much more can be said about the weather.
Several Christmastime institutions were celebrated this past week, including the Elm Springs School Christmas program on Tuesday night, the WTL Club December meeting at Melvin and Dorothy Andersons Wednesday afternoon, and the Elm Springs Church program Sunday night. The WTL meeting, at which the ladies revealed their “Secret Santa” identities, was attended by Jean, Kelli and Shirrise Linn, Caroline Wilsey, Margee Willey, RoseMary Trask, Sandy Fields, Peggy Gravatt, Linda Tift, and guests Bunny Bail and Darlene Wulf.
And the Elm Springs Church Christmas program was one to remember. Saturday night, Kelli Linn left the stove in the church running so that the church would be warm Sunday evening. On a whim Sunday morning, Lawrence Burke went to the church to make sure that the stove was running and found that it wasn’t. Lawrence and Matt Trask tried unsuccessfully to light the stove. Lawrence returned with Andy Linn and was able to light the stove, which goes to show that you should choose your help carefully. Although the church was warmer than it would have been without the stove, it was not exactly pleasantly warm for the program.
Lonnie Arneson and Terri Ramsdell returned from Las Vegas NV Monday afternoon.
Jake Hall was a coffee visitor at the Lawrence Burke residence Monday morning, and Clyde Arneson took his spot Tuesday morning. On Friday, Lawrence and Doris went to Rapid City for supper to celebrate their anniversary. PFC Skyler Burke visited the Lawrence Burke residence Sunday evening for supper.
Peggy Gravatt went toWall Tuesday where she met with Dora Mae Jensen. Larry and Peggy went to Rapid City Thursday on business. Friday they fixed a leak in their well, and Sunday they attended an open house in Rapid City and visited Ray Jondro.
The Sam Johnstons attended the Wall/Hot Springs basketball game in Wall Tuesday night, the Wall/Bennett County basketball game in Wall Thursday night and the Wall/Jones County basketball game in Murdo Friday night.
The Andy Linns had Clyde Arneson over for prime rib Monday night to celebrate Ben’s birthday again. And the Jamie Brunsch’s of Rapid City visited the Andy Linn residence Sunday.
Matt Trask was a Monday evening visitor at the Morris Linn residence. Roger Shull of Creighton visited the Morris Linn residence Tuesday evening. Morris went to Rapid City Wednesday, while Shirrise and Kassandra went to Wall for piano lessons and to visit the Sanden Simons residence. Shirrise went to Rapid City Friday where she met Grandma Arlene Talley. The Morris Linns attended Carla Bruchlacher’s piano recital in Wall, where Kassandra performed, before attending Regan Simons 5th birthday party at the Sanden Simons residence.
Jim and Myrna Smith visited the “Elk Creek Trask” and the “Upland Trask” residences Friday afternoon.
Matt Trask visited the John Timmons residence Tuesday afternoon, and went Christmas shopping in Rapid City Friday night.
At the “Upland Trask” residence, John Paul arrived Tuesday, Julie arrived Thursday and Joe arrived Friday. David Kalil of Rapid City visited Sunday morning, and the “Upland Trasks” had supper in Rapid City, with Fr. Bill, John and Anne Zandri and Baxter and Dunbar Anders. Afterwards, Baxter, Dunbar, Joe and Austin went to visit Ryan Burkinshaw.
Jim and Caroline Wilsey attended the Lori Line Christmas Concert in Rapid City Monday night. And they welcomed daughter Brenda Konstanty and family of Houston, TX late Saturday night.
“I haven’t done anything this week except cut wood and carry ashes,” said a tired-sounding Philip Wilson. Mary Kay did attend Carla Bruchlacher’s piano recital in Wall on Sunday.
“I haven’t done anything this week except cut wood and keep the fire going,” said a tired-sounding Kenny Wilson. He must have a bigger stove than Philip
The kind citizens hope you have enough wood cut and a very Merry Christmas!
