The ESN; 2400 Trees & a Helicopter

April 21, 2008

The kind citizens were a little disappointed in the less than stellar effects of last week’s rain and snow. This week brought balmy and windy weather, which really didn’t help anything.

A crew of kind citizens and others began residing the Elm Springs Hall this week, and are already half done.

Several of the kind citizens attended the Cammack Ranch Supply Open House in Union Center either Thursday or Friday.

And Baxter Anders and Joe Trask left Rapid City early Saturday morning with the WHS Senior Class, bound for New York City, where they will spend most of the week.

The Anders’ planted 2400 trees Wednesday and Thursday, with help from the Sam Johnstons and Bunny Bail and the girls. Marvin and Carolyn Anders hosted turkey hunters from Michigan over the weekend, and Larry Schell of Wasta was a supper guest at the Marvin Anders residence Sunday night.

Lonnie Arneson drove brother Clyde to Spring Repair near Red Owl, where Clyde picked up his tractor, which he then drove back to Elm Springs. Lonnie returned in Clyde’s other vehicle. On Saturday, the Clyde Arnesons went to Belle Fourche to help Ray Schmidt celebrate his 85th birthday, which was Friday.

Ryan Elshere accompanied Ty Eisenbraun and Wade Yost to a rodeo in Madison, WI Friday, returning Saturday.

Larry and Peggy Gravatt brought Jack out from Rapid City Wednesday. He returned Thursday, after making sure the kind citizens were holding their mouths right.

Cary and Carson Johnston accompanied Scott and Melody Eisenbraun of Wall to the track meet in Lemmon on Friday. The Eisenbrauns visited the Sam Johnston residence Friday evening.

Kellie Linn left Thursday for a Quantum Energetics conference near Loveland, CO. Morris and Kassandra Linn were supper guests at the Andy Linn residence Sunday evening, right before Kellie’s return.

John and Jean Linn spent the latter half of the week entertaining grandkids at the “Big House.”

Andy Linn, Clyde Arneson, Nick Trask, and Roger Shull of Crieghton were coffee guests at the Morris Linn residence Monday morning before going to the Baker Bull Sale in St. Onge. Nick and Roger were supper guests at the Morris Linn residence Monday night. On Thursday Shirrise Linn accompanied Lauren Langdeau of Presho to the Quantum Energetics conference near Loveland. They also managed to sneak in a trip to Denver. While Shirrise was gone, Morris and Kassandra ripped a few pages from the Matt Trask playbook, visiting the Scott Simons residence for supper Friday night, and visiting the Gene Pluth residence in Rapid City for lunch on Sunday. As noted above, they hit the Andy Linn residence that same day for supper. Matt Trask visited the Morris Linn residence Sunday afternoon, and Shirrise returned Sunday night.

Bunny Bail was a coffee visitor at the Cary Tines residence Wednesday morning. Cary accompanied Clyde Arneson to Wall Wednesday afternoon. Matt Trask visited the Cary Tines residence Saturday evening, and John, Amanda and Lainee Mae were dinner guests on Sunday.

Matt Trask was a supper guest at “the Castle” on Tuesday night. Al Trask had lunch at the “Upland Trask” residence Friday, and the Al Trasks went to Rapid City Saturday evening.

The “Upland Trasks” had visitors from the sky on Thursday. Jesse Sondreal of Sturgis, Troy Link of Huron and Mike Langbean of Woolsey caused quite a stir when they set their helicopter down near the “Upland Trask” residence. Matt, Maria and Celine were treated to a ride, visiting the vacant “Castle” and whirring around Elm Springs before setting back down. The three returned in an automobile on Friday to hunt turkeys with the aid of Nick and Steph Trask. Other visitors during the week included Chuck Enders of Kadoka and Morris Linn.

The “Elk Creek Trask” kids returned Tuesday from the State FFA Convention where they did very well indeed. The Philip Range Judging Team consisting of the three “Elk Creek Trask” kids and Danielle Piroutek placed first and individually Mark placed third, Tomilyn placed fifth and Mick placed ninth. In addition Mark placed eighth in the Business Management test. Katie Nelson of Philip spent part of the week at the “Elk Creek Trask” residence.

Caroline Wilsey attended the Baker Bull Sale in St. Onge on Monday. Bunny and Mattee Pauley visited the Jim Wilsey residence Sunday evening.

The Kenny Wilsons visited Justin and Mandy Tschetter in Rapid City Sunday afternoon.

Mary Kay Wilson returned from Minnesota on Monday. Darell and Norma Harer of Hoven arrived at the Philip Wilson residence Sunday afternoon.

Leslie Deering of Spearfish spent Thursday and Friday at the Melvin Anderson residence. Melvin and Dorothy attended Lloyd Anderson’s funeral at Ft. Meade on Saturday.

The Elm Springs Church will next hold services on Sunday, May 4th, which has been designated a statewide day of prayer for rain.

The kind citizens encourage you to start praying for that cause now.
