Hubba’s House

Elm Springs News

The Elm Springs News is a weekly column written and compiled by Matthew J Trask, detailing the lives of the people in Elm Springs, South Dakota. Started in 2003, the original column debuted in the Pennington County Courant, and has since grown to a worldwide audience. Often compared to the popular radio program “A Prairie Home Companion,” the ESN is a taste of Americana, based on real events and real people…an escape from the stress and facade of the big city.

The ESN is published each Sunday night on HubbasHouse.com and in that week’s Courant. To read the newest column or browse through past editions, click here.

Arf, Arf!

Patty couldn’t be much help with painting at four years old, so the Bible School people welcomed her into their classes, and then enthusiastically invited her to appear in [...]

Haying Time

The Frank Timmon’s Ranch has gotten to the hayfield at last!  We’ve had a run of bad luck with the machinery, but today we raked and baled a bit of hay.  In between we’ve been busy changing oil, greasing, cleaning the winter muck out of everything, and cussing.
The haying season is a lot like a [...]
