The Elm Springs News; Luck of the Bunny
March 25, 2008
The Catholic kind citizens discovered that it was a little frosty before the sun and the Lord had risen on Easter Sunday morning. But they were dressed in their finest, singing Hallelujah at 7:30 in the morning at St. Margaret’s in Lakeside.
And over at the Elm Springs Church, kind citizens and relatives were wall to wall for the Easter Sunday service, which began at 8:00 under the direction of the Rev. Harold Delbridge. Afterwards, they all enjoyed brunch, unblessed by the presence of Matt Trask.
Kellie Linn hosted the WTL Club on Monday. Members present, besides Kellie, were Jean and Shirrise Linn, Margee Willey, Dorothy Anderson, Caroline Wilsey, RoseMary Trask, and Peggy Gravatt.
The Elm Springs schoolchildren began their Easter recess Wednesday afternoon, after the school Easter party, which was put on by Shirrise Linn and RoseMary Trask, and attended by Bridget and Little Pat Trask. The children had fun finding close to 130 Easter eggs.
Jean Linn, Caroline Wilsey and Dorothy Anderson attended the quilt class in Wasta on Friday.
The ESN this week is mostly a chronicle of the events of Monday, which was St. Patrick’s Day, and Sunday, which was Easter. Due to various complexities of the solar system, St. Patrick’s Day fell during Holy Week, or Holy Week fell over St. Patrick’s Day, which left Irish Catholics the world over in a very tight spot. Hopefully the Catholics will forgive the Irish.
Marvin and Carolyn Anders and the Rod Anders family went over the river and through the woods to the Casey Trask residence for Easter Sunday dinner.
Chase Arneson spent “a couple of days” this past week helping his dad on the place. The Clyde Arnesons all had Easter Sunday dinner at home.
Lawrence and Doris Burke had a rather busy week. Lawrence went to Rapid City Thursday to keep appointments, and on the way home, stopped to visit Arnold Matt in New Underwood. Darlene Wulf and Daren Nachtigall visited the Lawrence Burke residence Friday afternoon, and Kenny and Janet Wilson visited Saturday evening. Lawrence and Doris had Easter dinner with Melissa Burke in Rapid City on Sunday.
The Ryan Elsheres joined the Travis Arnesons, the Bill Eastmans, and the JJ Elsheres at the Marcia Arneson residence in Rapid City for Easter dinner. Several of the children received new bicycles, perhaps from a confused Easter Bunny.
Jerry and Alyn Gravatt and their boston terrier visited the Larry Gravatt residence Saturday, much to the fright and consternation of Peggy’s pomeranian poodle. On Sunday, Larry and Peggy went to Rapid City and picked up Jack for Easter dinner. They were joined by Brad Bookbinder.
The Sam Johnstons visited the “Big Green Trask House” in Wall Friday night. On Saturday, Scott and Jana Jensen and family of Gilette WY arrived at the Sam Johnston residence, where they spent the night. Sunday after the Jensens left in the afternoon, the Sam Johnstons visited Norma Pellegrin in New Underwood.
John and Jean Linn hosted an Easter gathering at the “Big House” on Saturday, with all of their children in attendance. The Brett Wilseys spent Saturday night and Easter Sunday at the “Big House.”
Kassandra Linn spent Tuesday night at the Bunny Bail residence. Wednesday after school, Bunny and her girls went to Wall with Shirrise and Kassandra, where they picked up the O’Rourke boys before returning to Elm Springs for supper and egg decorating at Bunny’s, in the additional company of Morris Linn and the Tines’. Cheryl and Margaret Simons arrived at the Morris Linn residence Thursday morning to accompany Shirrise and Kassandra to Rapid City for Kassandra’s pictures. Laura and Katie Wilsey visited the Morris Linn residence Saturday afternoon, and Amber Brookman of Rapid City spent Saturday night. The Morris Linns joined the entire Simons’ family for Easter dinner at the Bummer Simons residence.
Andrew Smith arrived at the Jim Smith residence Friday for the Easter weekend. The Jim Smiths had Easter dinner at the Maxine Smith residence.
Cary and Pam Tines hosted a houseful for St. Patrick’s Day supper. The Morris Linns, the JW Wrachfords, Clyde Arneson, Norm Current of Wasta, John Tines, Amanda Humphrey and Lainee Mae and Lucky Matt Trask all visited for supper Monday night. Matt excused himself early so that he would be on time for St. Patrick’s Day supper at the “Upland Trask” residence. Who needs a pot of gold anyway? Big Pat and Al Trask and Morris Linn were Thursday morning coffee visitors at the Cary Tines residence. The Tines’ enjoyed Easter dinner at the Ron Racicky residence in New Underwood.
The Al Trasks went to Rapid City on business Tuesday. Thursday morning, Al and Big Pat left for Minnesota on a business trip, while Bridget and Little Pat went to Rapid City. Al returned Friday afternoon. RoseMary and the Three Little Girls visited the Castle Saturday night.
Matt Trask accompanied Robert and Tyler Dennis to Sturgis and Spearfish Wednesday, where “Jingle Bob,” as they call him, appeared with Paul Larson on the Live With Jim Thompson stage show from the Heritage Center in Spearfish. Matt got to visit the CBSi studio afternoon, as Mr. Dennis appeared on the regular broadcast as well. Robert Dennis fed Matt twice, and Matt got a free piece of pie at Perkins for attending the show.
“Whoever Shows Up” performed again at the St. Margaret’s Easter Sunday mass, hastily practicing the night before at the Matt Trask residence. Members this time were Matt Trask; guitar, Wade Wulf; guitar and Austin Trask on bass guitar. After what could be called “soundcheck” at St. Margaret’s Sunday morning, “Whoever Shows Up” were coffee visitors at the John Wulf residence. Clay Tines and Sean Troxel visited the Matt Trask residence briefly Saturday night, and Austin Trask spent Saturday night.
Ray Olsen joined the “Upland Trasks” for St. Patricks Day supper Monday night.
John Paul Trask arrived home from Winona, MN Monday night. RoseMary, Matt, Gemma and Maria went to Rapid City Friday afternoon to get groceries and Easter dresses. Poor Matt did not find a nice Easter dress, but he did discover that they do not serve food at Kmart, Kohls, Wear It Again Sam, JC Penney’s or Target. On Sunday, the “Upland Trasks” hosted the Al Trasks, Ray Olsen, Steph Trask of Rapid City, Bill and Jayme Sheldon of Rapid City, and Joe and Iola Carter of Custer for Easter Dinner and frivolities.
The “Elk Creek Trasks” spent Monday, which in addition to being St. Patrick’s Day is also Shelia’s birthday, in Philip. Katie Nelson of Philip visited the “Elk Creek Trask” residence Easter evening, as it were.
The Kenny Wilsons hosted the Wilson Easter dinner on Sunday.
Morris and Andy Linn and the Cary Tines’ visited the “Brustol AFB” Saturday afternoon to watch the Houston Rodeo.
The kind citizens hope you had a wonderful Easter.
