The Elm Springs News

Elm Springs News

It seems that most of the kind citizens took Sunday afternoon off for recreation, and therefore were not home to report what they had done the rest of the week. Many of them may have been enjoying the last day of the Central States Fair, as it was the main social attraction of the week.

The weather in Elm Springs has been unremarkable this past week.

The WTL Club met at the Lorraine Ven Huizen residence in Quinn Wednesday. Ladies in attendance were Jean, Kelli and Emily Linn, Caroline Wilsey and Wilma Moore.

Kody DeVries was a Sunday morning coffee visitor at the Clyde Arneson residence and then returned for Sunday dinner. Later, Andy Linn was a visitor at the Clyde Arneson residence and then Clyde was a visitor at the Andy Linn residence.

Kelli Linn and the kids went camping over the weekend with Jim and Jean Ross of Pueblo, CO, Nancy and Jerry Cole of St. Paul, MN, and Helen Arends of Black Hawk.

Charlotte Wilsey and her kids spent the weekend with John and Jean Linn. Brett Wilsey is now in Antarctica where he will be working for six months.

Thank Heaven for the Morris Linns, or their would be hardly any ESN this week. On Tuesday, Kassandra stayed at Grandma Jean’s with Jacob. Wednesday, Nick and Al Trask were dinner guests at the Morris Linn residence. The Morris Linns attended a surprise birthday party for Cheryl Simons, with all of her children and grandchildren, plus Grandma Arlene and Dayton Shannon, Grandma Margaret, Deb Brookman, and Brian and Misti Walker. Thursday, the Morris Linns attended another surprise birthday party in Enning, this time for Kim Smiley. Kassandra spent the afternoon at the Scott and Lynn Simons residence. Friday, Shirrise and Kassandra spent the day in Rapid City with Misti and Statler Walker and had lunch with David and Sandy Van Vleck. Saturday Jean Linn, Charlotte Wilsey and her girls visited, and Sunday JW Wrachford and Matt Trask were guests.

The Pauleys attended the Range Days Rodeo in Rapid City Thursday to watch Jesse Bail compete, and Friday the Pauley girls competed in the youth rodeo in Rapid City before playing at the Rushmore Waterslide.

Visitors for the week at the Cary Tines residence included Kody DeVries, Morris Linn, Al Trask, JW Wrachford and Sean Troxel, and maybe Clyde Arneson. On Sunday, Philip and Kenny Wilson visited. Kenny Wilson, the bad boy of Elm Springs, is the proud new owner of a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The “Elk Creek Trask” children started school in Philip on Thursday.

Pat Trask was in Rapid City several days over the week. Several of the “Upland Trasks” served food at the Knights of Columbus Snack Shack over the week. Becky Trask returned to the United States Wednesday, and Steph went to pick her up in Riverton, WY.

Julie began school at Chadron Tuesday. Nick Trask and Kody DeVries attended a wedding dance in Lemmon Saturday night.

Matt Trask kept appointments in Rapid City Friday, and visited the Ernie Garcia residence, where he found a cake. Later, he attended the Flying T Supper and Show which his family had promised to attend and never did. Saturday, Matt attended the wedding of Jeremy Stadheim to Carrie Longwood, on the Longwood ranch north of Bison.

Ashley Wilsey and her friend Ashli, both returning to classes at SDSM&T, visited at the Jim Wilsey residence Sunday.

Philip and Mary Kay Wilson visited Darell and Norma Harer in Gettysburg during the middle of the week.

The kind citizens of Elm Springs hope you have a great week.
