Elm Springs began the week with blistering hot temperatures. Wednesday night a sizable rainstorm swept through, leaving two cooler days in its wake. By Sunday the temperature was back up near the century mark and you couldn’t tell that it had ever rained.

The kind citizens and others responded promptly to a fire on the Lonnie Arneson ranch near the Ryan Elshere residence Tuesday afternoon. The firemen had their hands full, but they managed to subdue the blaze before the sun had set. Watching the fire kept the Arnesons and Elsheres busy until Thursday.

Clyde and Connie Arneson attended the Days of ‘76 Rodeo in Deadwood on Saturday.

Lawrence Burke went to Rapid City on Monday, where among other things, he visited friend Steve Warren. Rusell Burmeister joined Lawrence on a Wednesday visit to the Jack Tines residence. On Saturday, Hal Oberlander and a group of intrepid young outdoorsmen went camping near the Lawrence Burke garage, where they had electrical access. Hal and company went canoeing down the Belle Fourche river on Sunday.

The Andy Linns went to Shadehill Reservoir Sunday where they met the Bob Campbell family.

Morris Linn took Kassandra to gymnastics in Wall Thursday. Saturday, Shirrise left for Denver CO to attend the Stampin’ Up! Convention. Morris and Kassandra visited the “Brustol AFB” Sunday before Kassandra went to the “Big House” and Morris visited the “Upland Trask” residence.

JW and Dara Wrachford and Amanda Humphrey and Lainee Mae were all Friday night supper guests at the Cary Tines residence Friday night. Cary and Pam visited the “Brustol AFB” Sunday afternoon.

Al and Matt Trask made a business trip to Mandan, ND on Monday.

Steph Trask and Tracey Orsburn left Monday evening for Colorado Springs, CO. John Paul Trask celebrated his twentieth birthday with a party at the “Upland Trask” residence Saturday night in the company of Ray Olsen, Patrick Wilson and the Al Trasks. On Sunday, most of the “Upland Trasks” went to the Bruch family reunion near Sturgis, while John Paul left for the Totus Tuus Camp at Storm Mountain, where he will spend the week.

Tom and Shelia Trask left Monday for a two week hunting trip to Africa. Uncle Bob McDaniels is in charge of the “Elk Creek Trask” affairs while they are gone. Matt Trask visited the “Elk Creek Trask” residence Sunday afternoon.

Kenny and Janet Wilson joined Philip and Mary Kay on a motorcycle vacation to Oakwood State Park near Brookings Saturday. They went camping with the Josh Wolbergs and Beth and Pam Wilson. Both sets of Wilsons returned Sunday.

The Lonnie Arnesons and the Ryan Elsheres would like to thank everyone who helped put out their fire.

And the kind citizens hope you don’t have one.
