The Elm Springs News
July 15, 2007
Here in Elm Springs, the kind citizens are just slogging their way through the sultry heat of the summer.
Several of the kind citizens took part in Wall’s Centennial Celebration, which took place most of the week.
Ken, Belva, Lynn and Kendra Reilly of Spokane, WA, arrived at the Marvin Anders residence Tuesday for a three day stay. Carolyn Anders and Belva Reilly met Darlene Keffeler of Union Center, Evelyn Hale of Red Owl and Wilma Olson and Glen Denning of Pennsylvania at the Bull Creek Cafe in Union Center Tuesday afternoon.
Kelly Anders opened her shop in Wasta this week. Wasta Upholstery is located next to the way-cool Dixie Diner. Kelly is there on Mondays and Wednesdays and other days as time allows. She can be reached at 515-0271.
Clyde and Connie Arneson had supper at the Two Bit Saloon in Quinn Friday night.
Skyler Burke and Ryan Timme of Rapid City were Monday visitors at the Lawrence Burke residence. Lawrence and Doris went to Rapid City Thursday, where they ran errands before meeting Melissa Burke for lunch.
The Ryan Elsheres, accompanied by Brandon West of Philip, went to rodeos in Wolf Point, MT on Thursday and Casper, WY on Friday, where the boys competed.
Cary’s sister Billie Jo Winkus and her kids of Pennsylvania arrived at the Sam Johnston residence Tuesday for a three day stay. Apparently it was a three day stay kind of week.
Kelly Linn and the kids left with Jim and Jean Ross Monday for a weeks stay in Pueblo, CO. They returned Sunday.
John and Jean Linn went to Rapid City Tuesday where they visited the Charlie Linn residence and the Brett Wilsey residence.
The Morris Linns went to Union Center to help Monte Simons of Colorado celebrate his birthday at the Community Center. Unfortunately they were not home to report what else they did.
Matt Trask visited the Cary Tines residence Tuesday evening. Amanda Humphrey and Lainee Mae visited Thursday night, and Lainee Mae stayed Friday. On Sunday, Cary and Pam joined others on a motorcycle excursion to Wyoming.
The “Upland Trasks” had a pretty slow week if you don’t count the Ronald Reagan Memorial picnic held Saturday evening. Although much smaller than last years bash, it was very fun, with games for the kids, speeches by Ken Knuppe, Margaret Nachtigall, Bill Kluck and Larry Nelson, all with the South Dakota Stockgrowers, and music provided by the Hill City Slickers. Matt Trask insisted on “helping” the Slickers, and they graciously accomodated him, keeping their solid harmonies intact even through his botched chord changes. Hugh Ingalls was talked into performing a song as well. Cody Elfrink and Austin Simon of Highmore stayed at the “Upland Trask” residence Saturday night. Elsewhere in the week, visitors included Morris Linn, Ray Olsen, Sean Troxel, Patrick Wilson and Juan Luna of Rapid City, and Tance Hermann of Belle Fourche. Pat visited the Jack Cole residence near Spearfish Wednesday.
Taylor Trask of Nashville TN visited the Matt Trask residence on business Thursday. Taylor spent the week in Wall taking in the Centennial celebration.
Tim and Patty Wilsey and family of Elk River, MN visited the Jim and Caroline Wilsey residence Monday. Jim and Caroline took Zach and Zarah Wilsey to the rodeo in Wall Saturday night, and Tim returned to visit Sunday, in addition to Bunny Pauley and the girls.
Patrick Wilson and Juan Luna spent the weekend at the Philip Wilson residence.
Kellie Wilson and Shayla Johnson representing the Wall FCCLA, spent the week in Anaheim, CA where they won a gold medal for their speech.
John and Mary Deering of Indiana and Tyler Caspers of New Underwood were visitors at the Melvin Anderson residence Thursday. Taylor Anderson arrived Friday night to help Melvin and Dorothy in the Wall parade on Saturday, where they carted Mr. John Deering, the entire Wasta High School class of 1954. The rest of us have to wait ten years for a class reunion.
The kind citizens wish you a wonderful week.
