The Elm Springs News

June 16, 2007

he rain, which now falls in Elm Springs at least every other day, has produced levels of humidity normally only experienced in Eastern South Dakota. Still, no one is complaining.

Several of the kind citizens attended graveside services for Dannie O’Connell on Thursday at Black Hills National Cemetery, and several more attended either Gladys Arneson’s funeral at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis or her burial at the Elm Springs Cemetery or both, on Friday. After the burial, family and friends gathered at the Elm Springs Hall for a meal put on by the WTL Club.

The Larry Gravatts went to Rapid City several days to visit Jack, who was hospitalized Wednesday. Jack is doing better now.

Young Emily Linn started the celebration of her Tuesday birthday on Monday, when she went to Rapid City to get her braces off. On Tuesday, accompanied by her brothers and Celine Trask, she returned to Rapid City to go swimming and eat at Pizza Hut. Kellie Linn found time to visit the Jamie and Karen Brunch residence Tuesday as well. On Sunday the Andy Linns celebrated Father’s Day with a visit to the Jamie and Karen Brunch residence in Rapid City.

John and Jean Linn returned Wednesday from the Excel camping convention at Jack’s Camper Sales in Piedmont. On Sunday they attended the Farm Bureau Picnic at the Jason Reed residence south of Faith.

John Tines and Lainee Mae visited the Cary Tines residence Tuesday night. Lainee Mae’s arrival attracted the Morris Linns and Matt Trask, who came to meet her. Amanda Humphrey arrived later to spend the night at the Cary Tines residence. Pam and Cary Tines visited Jack Tines on Sunday, and then visited the Natalie Tines residence to help her install her air conditioner. Sammi Steen of Scenic visited the Cary Tines residence Sunday afternoon.

Joe Carter of rural Custer was a weekend guest at the “Upland Trask” residence. Sean Troxel and Chad, Nick and Nate Kaltenbach were Saturday visitors. And Andy Linn was a Sunday morning coffee visitor.

Several families of Wilsons, including the visiting families, visited the “Elk Creek Trask” residence Monday night for a rocky mountain oyster feed. The “Elk Creek Trasks” spent the weekend in Philip, taking in the Centennial celebration there.

Apparently most of the kind citizens were out celebrating Father’s Day, which makes this week’s ESN rather short.

The WTL Club is hosting a baby shower for Bridget Trask on Friday the 22nd of June at 7:00 pm at the Elm Springs Fire Hall. All are welcome to attend.

The kind citizens hope you had a happy Father’s Day.
