The Elm Springs News

Elm Springs News

The kind citizens ended a week of high winds and high temperatures with a small rainshower, which turned to hail in places, damaging several meadows on the Belle Fourche river bottom and several of Lonnie Arneson’s new windows. Once again this year, it seems the pessimists have a point.

The Elm Springs schoolchildren went on a skip day to Rapid City Monday, where they went swimming at the Ramkota before visiting Landstroms Gold factory to watch gold being processed.

The Elm Springs eighth graders, Ms. Kelli Wilson and Mr. Austin Trask, graduated from the Elm Springs School in a ceremony Thursday, which was the last day of school for everyone there.

All of the Anders went to Wall Monday to attend Wall’s eighth grade graduation, where young Mr. Dunbar Anders graduated.

Baxter Anders and Jana Jasper won 2nd place in the team roping at the Martin high school practice rodeo over the weekend.

Clyde Arneson went to Wall Wednesday on business.

Arnold Bryant of Las Vegas NV visited the Gravatt ranch on Friday. Saturday Jerry Gravatt brought Jack out from Rapid City. Jack stayed all night in Elm Springs before accompanying Larry and Peggy and his two sisters Dora Mae Jensen of Wall and Helen Gabbert of Dickinson ND on a tour of cemeteries to honor the dead for Memorial Day.

Wilma Moore, Brandon Moore, Wendy, Sean , Marty and Jesse Parmenter, and Jesse’s girlfriend Emily, all visited the Sam Johnston residence for supper Sunday night.

Karen Brunch and children visited the Andy Linn residence Tuesday. Matt Trask was a guitar playing supper guest Thursday night and less entertaining for coffee Friday morning.

Gordon Printz of Montrose CO and his son-in-law Leo of Hawaii were visitors at the John and Jean Linn residence most of the week. Brett and Charlotte Wilsey were dinner guests at the “Big House” Wednesday.

Roger Shull of Creighton was an overnight guest at the Morris Linn residence Monday night. And thats it.

The four women who visited the Pauley residence over the weekend in last week’s ESN left Tuesday in this week’s ESN. Bunny Pauley and the girls spent two days in Camp Crook with Rex Burghduff. The Pauleys attended the Saturday wedding of Sam Shepick to Sarah Olsen in Piedmont. Jesse Bail was a Sunday visitor at the Pauley residence and Jim and Caroline Wilsey were Sunday night dinner guests there.

Tom and Mick Trask returned to the “Elk Creek Trask” ranch Saturday night from their hunting trip in the Yukon Territory.

It was not reported in last weeks ESN that Jim and Bertie Butt of Murdo visited the “Upland Trasks” bringing Julie’s 1995 Jaguar sedan with them. This week, RoseMary’s cousin KayAnn Elfrink and husband Larry of Highmore spent Monday night. And although the “Upland Trasks” went like a house afire all week long, most of the rest of it did not amount to much.

Matt Trask made a business trip to the way-cool Dixie Diner Tuesday evening. It’s a great life if you don’t weaken. After that, he payed a visit to the Richard and Martha Johnston residence in Wall, just in time for (more) cake and ice cream.

Bruce Wilsey of Sioux Falls was a guest at the Jim Wilsey residence most of the week. Saturday, Jim and Caroline took granddaughters Ashley and Janette Wilsey out to dinner in Rapid City.

Philip and Mary Kay and Kenny and Janet Wilson and their motorcycles joined Kevin and Joan Howland on a tour of the Black Hills Sunday.

JW and Dara Wrachford hosted a retirement barbeque for a coworker of JW’s, at the “Brustol AFB” Saturday night.

The kind citizens are praying for rain.
