The rain simply will not quit here in Elm Springs. We got another .90” over the weekend. There have even been reports of people getting stuck in the mud.
The WTL Club met at the Melvin and Dorothy Anderson residence on Monday to make gift baskets of food and snacks for kind young citizens who are away at college. Members in attendance besides Dorothy were Jean and Kellie Linn, Caroline Wilsey, RoseMary Trask, and Linda Tifft.
Several of the kind citizens attended the Wasta Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser on Saturday night in Wasta.
Marvin and Carolyn Anders, along with Bub and Lucy Bradley and Jo Strong, went to Ashland, MT over the weekend to attend an Amish tack and furniture auction.
Clyde Arneson visited the Ryan Elshere residence briefly Wednesday evening.
Lawrence Burke attended the Rankin Auction in New Underwood Sunday. Lawrence and Doris Burke are proud to report that grandson Skyler Burke who lives in Rapid City and works at a Safeway store, left Friday for Casper WY where as the South Dakota Champion, he competed in the Regional Grocery Baggers contest, again winning first place in a field of fourteen and gaining a spot at the national competition.
Peggy Gravatt went to Sturgis Saturday to attend a baby shower for Joni Gravatt, of Jacksonville, FL.
Tia Grabow spent Friday and Saturday night at the Sam Johnston residence. On Sunday the Sam Johnstons went to Rapid City, where Calder and Carson played in a three-on-three basketball tournament with their cousins from Gilette.
All of the Linn families, including the Brett Wilseys, welcomed all of the Simons families to the Linn ranch on Sunday, where everyone had great fun having their pictures taken. It is probable that they used every conceivable combination of Linns and Simons against seven or eight different rural backgrounds. After everyone had been sufficiently blinded by the camera flash, they all enjoyed supper at the Morris Linn residence, additionally welcoming Clyde Arneson and Matt Trask.
Shirrise Linn and Cheryl Simons went to Rapid City Monday for appointments, while Kassandra spent the afternoon at the “Big House.” Kassandra spent Tuesday afternoon at the Bud Pauley residence, and Nick Trask was an evening visitor at the Morris Linns. Morris and Shirrise went to Rapid City Wednesday, and stopped at the Bud Pauley residence on the way home. On Friday, Shirrise and Kassandra went to Wall, where they visited the Sanden Simons residence, and Saturday it was Morris’ turn to go to Wall, accompanied by Clyde Arneson.
Bunny Pauley and the girls visited the Clyde Arneson residence Tuesday after school. Mayzee spent Thursday and Friday at the Outlaw Ranch.
Clay Tines was awarded the Star Chapter Farmer award at the New Underwood FFA Banquet Monday night. Monday evening visitors at the Cary Tines residence were Matt Trask and Sammi Stein. John Tines and Truette Northup were occasional visitors at the Cary Tines residence during the week. Bud Pauley visited Saturday evening and Clyde Arneson visited Sunday morning.
Matt and Nick Trask visited Al and Bridget’s Castle Thursday night, RoseMary visited Saturday, and Nick, John Paul and Joe visited the Castle Sunday afternoon. Bridget visited the “Upland Trask”residence a couple of times during the week.
The “Upland Trasks” had a really slow week. John Paul came home for the weekend, and Ray Olsen visited once or twice.
Mark and Mick Trask returned from the National Range Judging competition in Oklahoma City, OK Friday, having done well.
Mary Kay Wilsons parents, Darell and Norma Harer of Hoven arrived at the Philip Wilson residence for a few days stay Sunday.
Melvin and Dorothy Anderson met Julie Martin in Rapid City Tuesday.
The “Upland Trasks” would like to announce the upcoming profession of vows of Sister Magdalena of Jesus Crucified, which will be celebrated with a Mass on Thursday May 31st at 9:30 in the morning at the Camelite Convent in Alexandria. All are invited to attend, and cards can be sent to:
