The Elm Springs News
April 22, 2007
It continues to rain here in Elm Springs, and the kind citizens continue to be thankful for the rain.
A handful of the kind citizens attended the Cammack Ranch Supply open house on Thursday and Friday. These included Clyde Arneson, who took Andy Linn on Thursday, and then on Friday, straight out of the Matt Trask playbook, returned with Morris.
Several of the kind citizens attended the Good Neighbor Banquet Saturday night at the Elks Club in Rapid City, where Elm Springs landowner Harold Oberlander was recognized for his good deeds.
Several of the kind citizens attended the MCARE after-election potluck at the Elm Springs Hall Sunday afternoon.
And the Elm Springs schoolchildren went on what Maria Trask called a “skip trip” Friday to Sturgis, where they toured the Rocking Tree floral shop, the Meade County jail, and then either the Ft. Meade Museum or the library, depending on how old they were. After the trip, most of the children attended Kassandra Linn’s early ninth birthday party in Rapid City.
Marvin and Carolyn Anders hosted Harold and Karen Delbridge and visitors from Michigan Thursday evening.
Clyde Arneson hosted brother Lonnie Arneson for supper Friday night, and Pat Trask stopped by to visit as well. Clyde was a visitor at the Danny Arneson and Morris Linn residences Sunday.
And Lonnie Arneson hosted the Ryan Elshere family for supper Sunday night.
Ryan Elshere competed in the Marvin Garrett Invitational rodeo at the Central States Fairgrounds Friday night.
Sandy Fields’ sister Linda Lovelett of Cheyenne WY visited the Lynn Fields residence Saturday. On Sunday Donald Aigner and Dave and Colleen Hudson of Piedmont visited the Fields residence.
Larry and Peggy Gravatt went to Wall on business Tuesday, and took Dora Mae Jensen out to lunch while they were at it.
Sam Johnstons college buddies Orange and Clade Johnson, Tip Taylor, and Jem Kjerstad were tree planting and turkey hunting visitors during the week. On Sunday, Richard and Martha Johnston and Milton and Twila Trask visited the Sam Johnston residence.
The Andy Linns attended Emily’s piano recital in Rapid City Sunday afternoon.
Early Saturday morning, the lightning which accompanied the rainstorm temporarily knocked the power out in a handful of the kind citizens homes, which is why Grandma Jean Linn found herself feeding Matt Trask coffee and cookies at the “Big House” Saturday morning.
Shirrise and Kassandra Linn went to Rapid City Wednesday for appointments, and visited Grandma Arlene and Dayton Shannon. Matt Trask visited the Morris Linn residence Wednesday night. Shirrise and Kassandra and Bunny Pauley and her girls went to Wall Thursday for gymnastics, and had supper with Sandy and David Van Vleck. Savana Johnston and the Pauley girls spent Friday night with Kassandra after the birthday party. Shirrise returned all the birthday guests Saturday morning. On Sunday, Sanden, Regan, Thane and Jack Simons all visited the Morris Linn residence to go fishing, while Shirrise and Melissa Byrne attended a stamp party at the Joy Smiley residence. Jack Simons stayed at the Morris Linn residence for supper.
Matt Trask and his guitar were visitors at the Cary Tines residence Friday night. Clyde Arneson, possibly because there was no power at his house, was a coffee visitor at the Cary Tines residence Saturday morning. And Ronnie and Joan Racicky and Amanda Humphrey were all visitors at the Tines residence Sunday.
All of the Trasks had a slow week, except maybe one.
Shelia Trask attended the “Scottiefest” in Philip Thursday evening.
The “Upland Trasks” didn’t do much either. Pat went to town once or twice, Sean Troxel was a visitor Saturday night, and Joe and Austin Trask and friends embarked on the “Easter Camping Trip” Sunday night, a week or two late.
Matt Trask has discovered two things; first that all you have to do to be a songwriter is say that you are, and second that songwriters get more cookies than regular people. He is having fun with his latest scam. On Sunday, Jonathan Arnio, CJ Tice, Edson Dartt, and Tristen Williams visited the Matt Trask residence to help him record more songs. Several people stopped by to view the process, including Nick, Gemma, Maria and Celine Trask and Richard Johnston.
Mary Kay Wilson left Saturday for Hoven, where she picked up Darell and Norma Harer who accompanied her to Brookings to help Pam Wilson celebrate her 19th birthday.
Jim and Caroline Wilsey went to Whitewood Wednesday to pick up their car. Bunny Pauley and the girls were visitors at the Jim Wilsey residence for lunch Sunday.
The kind citizens really hope it keeps raining!
