The Elm Springs News
April 11, 2005
Now that the time has changed, the kind citizens of Elm Springs are enjoying the long and very beautiful afternoons. As always, a rainy afternoon would be the most beautiful of all, but sunny afternoons are nice too.
The Elm Springs Church hosted musical pastor Dan Kent and his wife Laurie Sunday, who performed service in song, to a packed House.
Several of the kind citizens went to Wall Saturday night to watch the Wall High School Prom grand march. Promgoers from Elm Springs included young John Paul Trask, escorting Ms Tara Sutter of Wall, young Baxter Anders, escorting Ms Amy Jobgen of Scenic, and Ms Pam Wilson, escorted by young Tyler Wulf of Owanka.
Marvin and Carolyn Anders went to Rapid City Friday.
Lawrence and Doris Burke had lunch with daughter Melissa in Rapid City Tuesday. Wednesday, Clyde Arneson was a visitor at the Burke residence. And Saturday Lawrence went to the gun show in Rapid City.
Lynn and Sandy Fields have done nothing of note socially in the last week, but they do have a new hired man, a native kind citizens even, John Tines. John moved back to Elm Springs to begin his employment with the Fields Sunday, and Elm Springs is glad to have him back.
Kelli Linn left Thursday for Loveland CO where she and Liz Anderson of Hill City attended the National Quantum Energetics Conference.
Young Kassandra Linn began gymnastics Tuesday in Wall with the Johnstons and the Pauleys. After practice, they all went to the Big Green Trask House to wish Twila Trask a happy birthday. Wednesday, Grandma Jean took Kassandra to her piano lesson, as Shirrise was hosting Jen and Cameron Magee and Jen’s parents Walt and Shirley Stone, all of Wyoming. Friday, the Morris Linns took delivery of a new dining room table, which Pat and Al Trask were gracious enough to help move. Pat returned home, while Al stayed for dinner. In the afternoon, Al returned, bringing his brothers, who helped move the old table out and then stayed for supper. Sunday Shirrise dropped Kassandra off at Jack and Cheryl Simons while she attended a stamp party at the Vivian Miller residence near Red Owl.
The always hilarious Bud Pauley reports that he was saved twice on Bunny’s birthday Saturday, first by Darlene Wulf of Owanka, who invited the Pauleys to breakfast and relieved Bud from having to cook breakfast, and then by kind citizen Caroline Wilsey, who brought over a birthday cake and relieved the rest of the Pauley’s from having to eat the cake Bud had made.
The inhabitants of the Cary Tines residence were largely preoccupied with helping young John move. Friday, Pam, Dara Wrachford, Amanda Humphrey and Gene Pippert attendeded a Silpada party at the Delynn Willis residence in New Underwood. Saturday, Pam, Dara, and Amanda, Billy and Kate Humphrey had a “cleaning party” at the New Underwood Tines residence. And Sunday was the actual move. Helpers included, with thanks from John, the Tines family, Kody DeVries, Dara Wrachford, and Tad and Tucker Northup. Sunday visitors at the Cary Tines residence included Natalie Termes, Kay Williamson, Joan Racicky, Tad Northup and Matt, Nick and Al Trask.
The “Upland Trasks” week revolved around young John Paul Trask, who was confirmed in the Catholic Church Wednesday at New Underwood. John Pauls sponsor was Kenny Wilson. Visitors over the week included Brian Barber of Rapid City, Pastor Charles Roesel of Florida, Coby and Clay Tines, Sean Troxel, Chad Kaltenbach, Buzz and Brent Johnson, Craig Painter, and a host of others. Matt Trask visited the “Brustol AFB” Wednesday, the Big Green Trask House Saturday, and the Larry Schell residence Sunday. He also stopped to talk to the “Gunns of Wall,” who were all congregated in Wasta Sunday.
Dara Wrachford, after several weeks recuperation from surgery, returned to work Tuesday at Ellsworth AFB.
The Catalyst Club is holding their 25th annual Good Neighbor banquet on Friday, April 15th, in the Lacroix Hall of the Rapid City Civic Center. In addition to this years honorees, all past honorees will be recognized. Tickets for this event can be obtained at the Civic Center or at Ann’s Flowers in Wall.
The kind citizens of Elm Springs hope that you are surrounded by good neighbors!
