The Elm Springs News

April 10, 2006

With over a half an inch of moisture this past week, and several warm sunny days, you can almost hear the grass grow in Elm Springs. The kind citizens couldn’t be any happier.

Several large flocks of geese, some numbering in the thousands, migrated over Elm Springs during the week.

The WTL Club met Monday at the “Big House.” Members present were Jean, Kellie and Shirrise Linn, RoseMary and Shelia Trask, Dorothy Anderson, Janet Wilson, Margee Willey, and Sandy Fields.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders visited the “Big Green Trask House” in Wall Friday night.

And young Dunbar Anders, with an unidentified partner, won the US Teamroping drawpot at the Equine Center on the Fairgrounds in Rapid City over the weekend.

Clyde Arneson was a coffee guest at the Lawrence Burke residence both Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Saturday afternoon, Skyler Burke and friend Ryan Timme, accompanied by Ryan’s father, visited briefly at the Burke residence, and when they left, Lawrence went to Rapid City to attend the Gun Show.

Ryan Elshere, accompanied by his wife and Clyde Arneson, went to the Seven Downs Arena near Spearfish Saturday to compete in a rodeo there.

Ben Linn visited the Matt Trask residence Thursday evening for his guitar lesson, and was picked up later by Andy and Emily, who visited briefly.

Jean, Kellie and Emily Linn attended a music contest in Spearfish, where Emily played the piano. After that, the Linn trio went to Belle Fourche, where they visited Gladys Arneson.

Shirrise Linn left Thursday for Rochester, MN with her mom. Without Shirrise to report, the Morris Linn ESN is a little sketchy, but it is safe to say that Matt Trask was a very bothersome guest several days.

The Pauleys had a big weekend. Friday night they went to the Jim and Caroline Wilsey residence, where in the company of the Wilseys and Melvin Dorothy Anderson, they had a steak supper to celebrate Bunny’s Sunday birthday. Saturday, the Pauleys went to the music contest in Spearfish, where young Mattee Ann sang a solo. And Sunday, the Pauleys had lunch at the Wall Drug Store to celebrate Bunny’s birthday again.

Pam and Clay Tines went to New Underwood Wednesday afternoon to see a family friend who was passing through. Matt Trask visited the Cary Tines residence Wednesday evening in search of coffee filters. Coby Tines hosted an after-prom party in the Tines shop Saturday night.

With Al back, the “Upland Trasks” are going like gangbusters again. Visitors for the week included Clay and Coby Tines, Ray Olson, and Roger, Nancy, Holly and Cameron Sukup and Becky Sanders, all of Nebraska. The “Upland Trasks” had dinner at the way-cool Dixie Diner after church on Sunday.

Matt Trask, the little piggy, went to church Saturday night, visited the Mel and Dorothy Anderson residence on the way home, and then had breakfast Sunday morning at the way-cool Dixie Diner.

Tim and Patty Wilsey of Elk River, MN were weekend guests at the Jim and Caroline Wilsey residence.

Phillip and Mary Kay Wilson attended the New Underwood High School Prom grand march at the Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City, where Pam was escorted by young Tyler Wulf.

Kenny, Janet and Kelli Wilson attended a birthday party for young Haley Jedlicka at Roosevelt Park in Rapid City Saturday.

And Sunday, Phillip and Mary Kay and Kenny and Janet Wilson took advantage of the beautiful weather to take a motorcycle tour of the Black Hills, stopping afterwards in Rapid City to visit former pastor and fellow motorcycle enthusiast Fr. Dan Juelfs and the Kevin Howland family.

The ESN seems rather short this week, doesn’t it?

Everyone is invited to the Elm Springs Church for the Easter Sunday service at eight o’clock in the morning (on Easter Sunday, doughhead) followed by a potluck breakfast.

The kind citizens really hope it rains again this week.
