The Elm Springs News
April 9, 2007
It was rather cold this past week in Elm Springs. All of the kind citizens had to go find their coats again.
This week’s ESN will mostly chronicle how the kind citizens celebrated the resurrection of the Savior on Easter Sunday, as most of them could not find the time to celebrate anything else.
The Elm Springs schoolchildren were released for Easter recess Wednesday afternoon.
St. Margarets Catholic Church at Lakeside held Easter Sunday mass at 7:30 am. After the kind and joyful citizens got the sleepers out of their eyes, they got to watch Tyler Wilson and Heather Sessions children, Saber John and Tracy Tayah, get baptized, with Al and Bridget Trask as godparents for both. Matt and Austin Trask and Wade Wulf provided musical accompaniment for the mass, which was followed by coffee and donuts.
Meanwhile, the Elm Springs Church held their services at 8:00 am, followed by a potluck breakfast.
The Marvin Anders joined the Rod Anders and the Casey Trasks at the Jo Strong residence near Union center for Easter dinner.
Bunny Pauley and the girls visited the Clyde Arneson residence Monday afternoon. Matt Trask was a supper guest Monday night, and then in a serious breach of etiquette, beat Clyde at cribbage. Thursday, Melvin, Tanielle and Tarin Arneson visited the Clyde Arneson residence. Clyde had Easter dinner with his family at home.
Ryan and Chrissy Elshere and family joined the Bill Eastmans, the JJ Elsheres, and Lonnie Arneson at the Marcia Arneson residence in Rapid City on Easter Sunday.
On Tuesday, Lynn and Sandy Fields attended a visitation service for John Swanson in Rapid City. Sandy attended the funeral of cousin Gladys Gillis in Rapid City on Friday. Rob and Heather Langley and family arrived at the Fields residence Friday afternoon. On Saturday evening, the Fields and the Langleys went to Rapid City where they joined Jason Fields, Karlen Davis, Moshe and Micah for dinner. On Sunday the whole dang bunch reunited at the Fields residence for Easter dinner. “And the best part,” says Sandy, was that “son-in-law Rob relieved me of hired man duties for a few days.” Praise the Lord!
The Sam Johnstons celebrated young Savannah’s birthday with Roger and Tammy Bills and family of New Underwood at the Harlem Globetrotters basketball performance in Rapid City Tuesday night. Thursday night, Cary joined the Kim Klings and Twila Trask in Rapid City for dinner to celebrate Twila’s birthday. On Easter Sunday, the Sam Johnstons hosted the Kling family and Norma Pellegrin for dinner.
John and Jean Linn hosted the Andy Linns, Morris and Kassandra Linn, the Brett Wilseys, and Charlie and Carol Linn on Easter Sunday at the “Big House.”
Kassandra Linn visited the Tines residence Wednesday while Shirrise and Cheryl Simons went to Rapid City. Morris and Kassandra spent Wednesday night at the Gene and Marsha Pluth residence in Rapid City. Kassandra went to gymnastics in Wall Friday with the Pauleys. And Kassandra spent Saturday night at the “Big House.” Matt Trask visited the Morris Linn residence Sunday evening.
Andrew Smith, now of Pierre, spent the weekend at the Jim Smith residence. The Smiths visited Hazel Stadel in Isabel for Easter.
Cary and Pam Tines visited the “Upland Trask” residence for dinner Tuesday. On Sunday, the Tines’ joined their extended family at the Kay Williamson residence in New Underwood.
Al and Bridget Trask visited the Kenny Wilson residence and the “Upland Trask” residence on Easter Sunday. More on both of those later.
Matt and Celine Trask visited the John Wulf residence for supper on Friday. Wade Wulf visited the Matt Trask residence Friday evening to rehearse for Easter Sunday mass. On Saturday, Jonathan Arnio and Michael Swan of Wall and CJ Tice and Edson Dartt of Rapid City visited the Matt Trask residence to help him operate all of the recording equipment he bought last fall. They recorded seven really cheesy country songs Matt had written, mostly about how he “can’t find no supper.” Wade Wulf visited again, and Matt and Wade went to the “Upland Trask” residence, where they ate supper and rehearsed again, this time with Austin Trask on bass and Julie Trask as musical director. Austin spent Saturday night at the Matt Trask residence. On Sunday, Matt and Austin went to mass at Lakeside, ate coffee and donuts, and then had breakfast at the Elm Springs Church on the way home. Praise the Lord!
RoseMary and Gemma Trask ran errands in Rapid City Thursday afternoon. John Paul Trask arrived at the “Upland Trask”residence from Wyoming Friday afternoon, and Steph and Julie arrived Saturday morning from Colorado. Saturday visitors at the “Upland Trask” residence were Ray Olson and Sean Troxel. The “Upland Trasks,” complete with Ray Olson and Al and Bridget Trask, had Easter fun finding eggs and playing Balderdash. They all decided that it was too cold and windy for a scavenger hunt.
Kenny and Janet Wilson, proud grandparents, hosted Tracy and Sherry Sessions, Holly and Cash Sessions, Tyler and Heather, Saber and Tracy, Mandy Wilson and Justin Tschetter, and Al and Bridget Trask for Easter dinner and baptismal celebration.
And thats about it. The kind citizens hope you had a joyful Easter, or at least a warm one.
