The Elm Springs News

March 25, 2007

f it were June, we would call the weather we are having “glorious.” As it is only March, however, the current succession of summer-like days has become quite alarming.

The Red Hat Ladies had an outing in Wall on Wednesday, mostly to celebrate Jean Linn’s birthday. Jean and Kellie Linn, Carolyn Anders, Margee Willey, RoseMary Trask, Maxine Smith, Caroline Wilsey, Sandy Fields, and Peggy Gravatt (fresh from the dentists office) met at the Wall Drug Store to begin the festivities, which later moved to the “Big Green Trask House,” where they had cake and played cards in the additional company of Milton and Twila Trask, Charlotte Wilsey, Paula Eisenbraun, Judith Olsen and Natalie Tines.

Saturday night the Wall, Philip and New Underwood high schools held their proms in their respective towns. Ms. Kelly Wilson, escorted by Mr. Garrett Schearer, and Mr. B. Dunbar Anders, escorting Ms. Chelsea McConnell, went to Wall, Msrs. Coby and Clay Tines, escorting Ms. Sammi Scott and Ms. Sammi Stein, respectively, went to New Underwood, and Msrs. Mark and Mick Trask, escorting Ms. Katie Nelson and Ms. Skye Bruchlacher, respectively, went to Philip.

Several of the kind citizens attended the Jenner Equipment Company Open House in Rapid City on Tuesday.

The Sam Johnstons spent the weekend in Rapid City where Calder and Carson participated in the Hardwood Classic basketball tournament at SDSM&T.

Kellie Linn attended a birthday party for Karen Brunsch in Rapid City Thursday afternoon. Matt Trask visited the Andy Linn residence Friday evening. And Sunday, while Jamie Brunsch and his horse Floyd helped the Linns “head ‘em off at the pass,” Kellie and Jacob Linn rode their bikes to the “Upland Trask” residence, accompanied by Duke the dog, who ran alongside.

Jean Linn and Carolyn Anders attended the Meade 46-1 bond issue informational meeting on Thursday evening in Union Center. John and Jean Linn went to Rapid City Saturday night to watch Laura Wilsey perform in the coveted first chair of the viola section at the 6th grade band concert.

Shirrise Linn and Cheryl Simons went to Rapid City Monday to run errands and visit Charlotte Wilsey. On Tuesday, Shirrise visited the Jack and Cheryl Simons residence and the Scott and Lynn Simons residence before coming home where Clyde Arneson was a supper guest. Wednesday the Morris Linns stopped at the “Big House” to wish Grandma Jean a happy birthday, and Thursday they had supper at the Ryan Elshere residence. Morris and Clyde Arneson took Kassandra to piano lessons Friday. Sanden, Regan and Thane Simons of Wall were dinner guests at the Morris Linn residence Saturday before taking Kassandra to the Jack and Cheryl Simons residence for supper. Wayne Shull and Sanden Simons visited the “Upland Trask” residence Wednesday morning, and it should be noted that Sanden returned Saturday morning. Pat and Matt Trask attended a meeting at the Paul Schultes residence near Mud Butte Wednesday evening, while RoseMary attended the Generations of Faith class at St. Patricks Church in Wall. Saturday, Gemma attended a middle school youth rally in Ft. Pierre. Nick Trask accompanied Scott Simons to the Jack Simons residence Saturday night. Saturday visitors at the “Upland Trask” residence were Baxter Anders and Patrick Wilson.

It was not mentioned in last weeks news that the “Upland Trasks” got a new dog. They have been without a dog for a couple of months, since poor Clair couldn’t bear the strain of two package deliverymen showing up in the same afternoon and got run over by the second one. Last week Pat was in town and resisted several requests to even look at a puppy being offered for free. When he finally agreed to take a look, he immediately took posession of the puppy. The little guy had been unofficially named “Poophead;” the Trasks have shortened this to “Poopsy,” which so far has proven to be an appropriate, although unsaintly name.

Matt Trask has begun giving Kyle Schell guitar lessons in the calving bunkhouse of the Schell ranch yard. Matt visited the Philip and Mary Kay Wilson residence Saturday night to watch movies with Patrick.

The “Elk Creek Trasks” attended the Philip Grand March to watch Mark and Mick marching grandly.

Jim and Caroline Wilsey went to Rapid City Tuesday to keep appointments.

The Kenneth Wilsons and the Philip Wilsons attended the Wall Grand March to watch Kelly marching grandly.

Dave Jedlicka visited the Kenneth Wilson residence by airplane on Saturday.

And Sunday, Philip and Mary Kay Wilson took a motorcycle tour of the Badlands, accompanied by John and Darlene Wulf.

The kind citizens would like to extend their condolences to Connie Mickelson, whose dad passed away in Florida.
