The Elm Springs News

March 20, 2006

No one ever dreamed of a “White Calving Season,” but that’s exactly what the kind citizens have got, and it’s just like the ones we used to know. Church services and other functions were cancelled by the bushel-basket on Sunday.

Many of the kind citizens attended the funeral and burial of Kenneth Tifft at the Wicksville Church and Lakeside Cemetery Monday.

The Elm Springs schoolchildren did not have school Thursday or Friday, and enjoyed the break.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders, John and Jean Linn, Melvin and Dorothy Anderson, and Lawrence Burke all attended the St. Patrick’s Day stew feed in Wasta on Friday.

Matt Trask was a visitor at the Rod Anders residence Friday afternoon, where he met the newest kind citizen.

And y Linn was a dinner guest at the Clyde Arneson residence Wednesday.

And Clyde Arneson was a coffee visitor at the Lawrence Burke residence Thursday.

Young Carter Elshere, while helping his dad check cows Friday, bailed off of his wayward horse and broke his arm. After a lengthy discussion, he did consent to go to the hospital.

The Andy Linns hosted a birthday party lunch for Andy, Jacob, and Jean Linn on Saturday. The Brett Wilseys, the Morris Linns, and Uncle Jim Linn attended.

Clyde Arneson and Matt Trask were guests at the Morris Linns Monday night. Roger Shull was an overnight guest Tuesday. Shirrise and Kassandra went to Rapid City Thursday, where they had lunch with Grandma Arlene Talley and visited the Brett Wilsey residence. Clyde Arneson was a dinner guest again on Friday. And Matt Trask was a supper guest again on Sunday.

Cary and Pam Tines hosted the Morris Linns and the JW Wrachfords for supper Friday night. Clay Tines accompanied Joseph Trask on a trip to North Dakota Saturday.

The “Upland Trasks” had a fair-to-middlin week, with visits from Andy and Morris Linn, Ray Olsen, and probably a few others. Pat of course presided over a raucous St. Patrick’s Day celebration, but that was about it.

Matt Trask spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Larry and Faye Volmer residence Monday, and hosted Andy and Ben Linn Thursday evening.

Kenny and Kelli Wilson went to Wall Wednesday, where Ms. Kelli got her drivers license.

The Kenny Wilsons embarked on a Matt Trask-style trip Friday, first visiting the Tiffts and then stopping for supper on the way home at the Jim Smith residence.

And Ms. Pam Wilson left Saturday morning for Washington, DC where she will spend a week in the Presidential Classroom program.

JW and Dara Wrachford hosted the Cary Tines’ and the Morris Linns for supper Saturday night.

As you can see, the amount of news in the ESN is inversely proportional to the amount of snow in Elm Springs.

The kind citizens hope you have a nice toasty fire.
