What little snow the kind citizens received in last week’s system mostly blew away it seems, leaving only damp spots here and there. The weather since then, while maybe a tad windy, has been gorgeous.
Jean Linn, Dorothy Anderson, Sandy Fields and Caroline Wilsey joined the Wasta Quilting Ladies at their monthly meeting Monday.
Milton and Twila Trask accompanied Marvin and Rod Anders on a Saturday drive around the Plainview area. Sunday, JD, Pam, and Hadley Livermont and Rod and Kelly Anders were all dinner guests at the Marvin Anders residence, where “several birthdays were celebrated,” says Carolyn. Who exactly celebrated a birthday, and how many they celebrated are unanswered questions.
“One day there, early in the week,” said Clyde Arneson, “I coffeed at Cary’s (Tines), and later in the week, I coffeed at LB’s (Lawrence Burke).”
Lawrence Burke remembers that Clyde stopped for coffee twice during the week, but he can’t remember specific days any better than Clyde can. On Friday, Doris Burke was admitted to the hospital in Rapid City, where she stayed until Sunday night, when Lawrence brought her back. The kind citizens are glad to have her. Lawrence Burke attended the Ag Banquet in Sturgis Saturday, which John and Jean Linn also attended.
Ryan Elshere accompanied the West brothers of Philip to Council Bluffs IA to compete in a rodeo there over the weekend.
Cherry Denke came out to spend the night with Jack Gravatt Saturday night, while Larry and Peggy Gravatt went to Rapid City to run errands and eat supper.
Roger Shull of Creighton visited the Andy Linn residence Friday. Saturday, Kellie, Emily and Jean Linn accompanied Sandy Fields to the new Dean and Mary Boydston residence in New Underwood.
John and Jean Linn visited the Kenny and Joann Holst residence in Sturgis Saturday afternoon.
Matt Trask was a visitor at the Morris Linn residence Monday night. Wednesday, Gene Hortness of Gettysburg was a dinner guest and young Taik Larsen was an after-school visitor. Wednesday, Shirrise and Chery l Simons went to Rapid City, and Roger Shull came out to spend the night with the Morris Linns. Matt Trask stopped by that evening to sniff out the cookies that Roger and young Kassandra had made a feeble attempt to hide from him. Chuck and Sandy Van Vleck of Wall were visitors at the Morris Linns Friday. On Saturday, Shirrise and Kassandra attended young Jade Graham’s birthday skating party in Union Center. Sunday, Shirrise attended a stamp party near Red Owl while Kassandra spent the afternoon with Jack and Cheryl Simons. And Melissa Byrne was a visitor Sunday afternoon.
Matt, Nick and John Paul Trask were visitors at the Cary Tines residence Sunday night.
Young Al Trask has now been in Washington, DC for a week. The “Upland Trasks” received word from him that a bout with the flu has retarded his progress in finding a job, but trivial details don’t seem to bother the man these days.
Back at the “Upland Trask” ranch, several family members were fighting the same flu over the weekend. Steph and Julie attended the wedding of Michelle Garcia to Mark Monroe in Valentine NE over the weekend. The two sang “The Rose” at the ceremony, prudently leaving Matt, his guitar and his appetite in South Dakota where they belong. John Paul Trask, meanwhile, competed in the State “B” wrestling tournament in Sioux Falls over the weekend, going out to eat one night with the “Elk Creek Trasks” whose boy Mark also competed. Pat and Matt Trask and the Three Little Girls ran errands in Rapid City Saturday. Pat and Steph Trask visited the “Big Green Trask House” in Wall Sunday evening.
Jim and Caroline Wilsey joined Melvin and Dorothy Anderson at the Bud Pauley residence Friday night to help young Emilee celebrate her birthday. Wayne and Jean Miller of Brandon were weekend guests at the Wilsey residence.
Kenny and Kelli Wilson had a big day in Rapid City Sunday, where they attended the Car Show with Kevin and Joan Howland and family, also encountering former Lakeside/New Underwood pastor Fr. Dan Juelfs, visited Pat and Ray Kasiah, and had supper with Dave and Kathy Jedlicka and family.
The kind citizens hope you don’t catch this flu.
