The Elm Springs News

March 4, 2008

The middle of the week in Elm Springs was glorious, but both ends were somewhat miserable.

Several of the kind citizens are beginning to notice signs that spring is around the corner. Flocks of geese have been spotted flying north, and Lawrence Burke saw a pair of robins.

The Elm Springs schoolchildren and their parents held their annual ski trip to Terry Peak on Monday. The snow was excellent, unlike the last few years.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders had Sunday brunch at the Casey Trask residence across the river.

While Clyde Arneson could not remember a single thing to put in the ESN, Doris Burke remembered that he was a coffee visitor at the Burke residence Thursday morning.

Clyde was also a coffee visitor at the Larry Gravatt residence Tuesday morning. Larry brought Jack out Friday from Rapid City to spend the night in Elm Springs.

The Sam Johnstons attended the basketball games in Wall Thursday and Friday night. Friday night, Tate and Taryn Eisenbraun of Wall accompanied the Johnstons to Elm Springs. They returned Saturday.

The Andy Linns attended the Wall basketball game on Friday. Wall lost by one bucket in the second overtime to New Underwood, ending their season. On Saturday, Jamie Brunsch, his girlfriend April, and Kalee. Logan and Zach Brunsch visited the Andy Linn residence.

John and Jean Linn had supper with Charlotte Wilsey and the girls in Rapid City on Thursday.

Morris and Kassandra Linn went to Wall Wednesday. Sandy and David Van Vleck spent Saturday at the Morris Linn residence, and Clyde Arneson was a supper guest Saturday night.

Jim Smith sheared sheep on Sunday, and so dinner guests at the Jim Smith residence on Sunday were Philip, Mary Kay and Kenny Wilson, Bill and Kim Kluck of Mud Butte, John, Justin and Ward Wulf, Darren Nachtigall, Andy Linn and kids, Jim Wilsey and the sheep shearers. Andrew Smith came home from Pierre for the weekend as well.

Coby Tines and Matt Trask both visited the Cary Tines residence on Sunday.

Matt Trask was a supper guest at Al and Bridget’s Castle Thursday night. Nick Trask visited the Castle Saturday. Al, Bridget and Little Pat visited the “Upland Trask” residence Sunday.

Julie Trask went to Rapid City to keep appointments on Thursday, while Pat went to Murdo to pick up a milk cow which he subsequently named Caramel Apple, and her calf, which Nick named Muhammad Ali. Those “Upland Trasks” are creative, if nothing else. Several of the “Upland Trasks” attended one or more of the Wall Eagles basketball games Thursday and Friday. Sean Troxel and Clay Tines visited the “Upland Trask” residence Friday and Saturday. Saturday night, Matt, Nick, Steph and Julie Trask visited the Colby and Trent Shearer residences across the river. And Sunday night, Matt and Nick attended a get-together for Theresa Bruch near Bear Butte.

Philip, Mary Kay and Kenny Wilson, accompanied by John Wulf, broke out their motorcycles Saturday for a trip to Rapid City. On the way back, they visited Gene Crosbie in New Underwood.

Tyler Wilson and family visited the Kenny Wilson residence during the week.

The Elm Springs Church will hold services this Sunday the 8th at 2 pm.

The kind citizens hope you have a wonderful week.
