We began the week in Elm Springs with bitterly cold temperatures, but gradually it warmed until by the weekend, it was quite bearable.

Several of the kind citizens attended the JM Nachtigall Angus bull sale at the ranch near Wicksville on Monday.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders joined Twila Trask, and Kirk and Kathy Cordes of Rapid City for lunch in Rapid City Thursday before visiting a photography exhibit at the Dahl Fine Arts Center.

And the Anders’ cattle feeding contingent took a break from normal Sunday morning when they crossed the Cheyenne River on the “winter bridge” and had brunch at the Casey Trask residence when their chores were done.

Clyde and Connie Arneson went to Rapid City on business Thursday.

Lonnie Arneson and Teri Ramsdell went to Rapid City on business and also to visit the BHSS Saturday.

And Clyde Arneson was a coffee visitor at the Lawrence Burke residence Saturday morning. Melissa Burke and Stacey Ritter, both of Rapid City, visited the Lawrence Burke residence Sunday afternoon.

The Ryan Elsheres hosted Clyde Arneson and Lindsay, Talon and Thane Elshere of Cottonwood for supper Thursday evening. Saturday the Elsheres attended the BHSS where Ryan competed in the bronc riding at the rodeo.

Larry and Peggy Gravatt went to Rapid City Sunday, where they took in the BHSS before going to the Meadowbrook School to watch the Boy Scout Pine Derby Races, which Steele Fuegen was entered in. With a pit crew that included Brad Bookbinder, a former contestant himself, Steele’s car won 2nd place in it’s division. After the races, Larry and Peggy visited Jack Gravatt and went grocery shopping.

The Sam Johnstons attended the Wall Eagles basketball game against Rapid City Christian at the NAU gymnasium in Rapid City Tuesday night. On Friday night they attended the Wall game versus Faith in Wall.

Shirrise Linn went to Rapid City Thursday on business, staying overnight at the Arlene Talley residence. On Friday the Morris Linns were overnight guests at the Gene Pluth residence. Saturday morning, Morris and Kassandra helped Rory Pluth move to his new house near Piedmont. Kassandra visited the Brett Wilsey residence Saturday afternoon, and the Morris Linns ate supper at the Gene Pluth residence Saturday night. Matt Trask visited the Morris Linn residence Sunday afternoon.

Andrew Smith arrived in Elm Springs from Pierre Friday to spend the weekend.

Tracey Kluck of Mud Butte spent a day or two at the Cary Tines residence. Cary and Pam spent the weekend in Billings, MT on business. Austin Trask visited the Cary Tines residence Sunday afternoon.

Pat, Matt and Julie Trask went to Rapid City on business Monday afternoon. RoseMary, Maria and Celine Trask attended the basketball game in Rapid City Tuesday night. And Pat attended the Lady Eagles basketball game in Martin Thursday night. Pat and Julie left Friday night for Alexandria where they stayed overnight before delivering alfalfa seed to points east river. On Saturday, most of the rest of the “Upland Trasks” loaded up in the van and drove to Alexandria where they joined Pat and Julie and Bobbi Jean Haneke to visit Sr. Maria Magdalena of Jesus Crucified, whose name seems to be growing every month. Sr. Maria entertained them on her violin, which she has recently begun to play, and sends her best to all. Pat traded Julie for Maria and continued delivering and picking up seed across the state, meeting Pat and Frankie Deering for breakfast Sunday morning at Al’s Oasis in Oacoma. Ray Olson was a supper guest at the “Upland Trask” residence Sunday night.

And Joe Trask, without the support of his family, won first place in the 189 lb weight class at the wrestling tournament in Oneida Saturday.

Philip and Mary Kay Wilson attended a gymnastics tournament in Hot Springs on Friday.

Dan Piroutek of Milesville and Harold Delbridge of Red Owl visited the Melvin Anderson residence Monday afternoon. Melvin and Dorothy spent Saturday at the BHSS.

The kind citizens would like to offer their condolences to the family of Jack Tines, who passed away Saturday morning.
