The Elm Springs News

December 3, 2007

After a November in which the kind citizens received no moisture whatsoever, Elm Springs received somewhere around three inches of snow on Saturday, December 1st. The snow was preceded by a week of hard wind and bitterly cold temperatures.

The kind citizens didn’t get out much this week. Perhaps it was due to the cold, or maybe the kind citizens were resting up for the flurry of social appearances which the Holiday Season seems to demand.

Anyway, Lawrence and Doris Burke hosted Clyde Arneson Wednesday morning and Matt Trask Thursday evening.

From the Burkes, we skip clear to the Sam Johnstons. Norma Pellegrin of New Underwood spent Friday night at the Johnston residence, and young Carlee attended a pole bending clinic at the Ruland Arena on Saturday and Sunday.

Andy and Kellie Linn went to Rapid City Saturday, where Ben, wrestling for Union Center, competed in a tournament at Central High School.

John and Jean Linn went to Rapid City Monday where they visited Jack Gravatt, Judith Olsen and June Jones. Jacob and Emily Linn spent Saturday at the “Big House.”

Shirrise Linn and Cheryl Simons went to Rapid City Monday to keep appointments and visit Grandma Arlene. Morris and Kassandra went to Wall on Wednesday. Shirrise and Kassandra went to Rapid City on Thursday for appointments. Shirrise spent Saturday night with Grandma Arlene in Rapid City. Matt and Nick Trask were supper guests at the Morris Linn residence Sunday evening.

Amanda Humphrey and Lainee Mae visited the Cary Tines residence Monday. Bunny Bail was a coffee visitor Tuesday morning, and Clyde Arneson was a coffee visitor Saturday morning.

Steph Trask attended a party at the Mike and Anita Heathershaw residence near Quinn on Friday night. Julie Trask arrived home from Ft. Collins Friday night as well. Saturday the “Upland Trasks” helped Ray Olsen celebrate his birthday with both breakfast and supper, and hosted George Paul Micheal of Wicksville for dinner. Most of the “Upland Trasks” had lunch in Rapid City on Sunday.

Janet Wilson met Mandy Tschetter and several sisters and nieces in Hill City on Saturday for something called a Fizzywhiz wine tasting at the Prairie Berry Winery. Afterwards several of them went Christmas shopping in the Hills.

Philip, Mary Kay and Patrick Wilson returned Monday from Minneapolis, MN, where they had gone to attend the baptism of young Samuel John Wolberg.

Matt Trask visited the Melvin and Dorothy Anderson residence for a three hour lunch on Tuesday, and Dorothy met Maxine Bongard in Rapid City for lunch on Friday.

The date of the Elm Springs School Christmas program was incorrectly posted in the Meade County Times, and we wish to remedy that error by stating that the Elm Springs School Christmas program will be held at the Elm Springs Hall on Monday the 17th of December at 5:30 pm. There will be a free will soup supper following.

The kind citizens hope you stay warm.
