The weather here in Elm Springs continues to be glorious. All of the kind citizens would like to receive the rain that did not come this summer, but they take what they get with smiles on their faces.
The Elm Springs Rebels basketball teams played the Enning Eagles Thursday night in Union Center. The big boys team won their contest.
And on Tuesday, the Elm Springs schoolchildren visited the mobile science unit in Union Center.
The Elm Springs People Who Play Cards met for the first game of the season Wednesday at the Lynn and Sandy Fields residence. Andy Linn was the October winner, with what kind citizen Clyde Arneson called “just a whopping score.”
Several of the kind citizens attended the 50th wedding anniversary party for Marty and Shirley Printz Saturday night in New Underwood.
Andy Linn, Ryan Elshere and Chase Arneson were dinner guests at the Clyde Arneson residence Friday.
Clyde Arneson was a dinner guest at the Ryan and Chrissy Elshere residence Thursday. Saturday night, the Elsheres were guests of Marci Arneson in Rapid City, helping Marci clean her yard Sunday morning.
Kody DeVries returned Friday morning from his elk hunting expedition near Hayden, CO, where he was joined by Walt and Craig Smith and Kurt DeVries. The four had a lot of fun and excitement, but didn’t find many elk.
Larry and Peggy Gravatt spent Friday afternoon visiting Jack at the VA Hospital in Ft. Meade. It was Jack’s birthday, and he entertained several visitors.
The Sam Johnstons spent the weekend at the Kim and Chris Kling residence near Belle Fourche.
Jean Linn, Sandy Fields and Dorothy Anderson all went to Wasta together Friday for the monthly quilting party.
Kassandra Linn was an after school visitor at the Sam Johnston residence Tuesday. Misti and Statler Walker of Union Center were overnight guests at the Morris Linns. On Saturday, Rick Johnston, Cory Levine, Clint Hammerstrom and Clyde Arneson were all afternoon visitors at the Morris Linn residence. On Sunday, Shirrise and Kassandra attended a stamp party at the Joy Smiley residence north of Red Owl.
Brady, Tucker and Jace O’Rourke attended the Extreme Rodeo in Rapid City Saturday night.
Tom and Shelia Trask attended the football game in Philip Thursday night.
The “Upland Trasks” had a good old fashioned weekend, with lots of people. Nick and Al Trask attended the football game in Philip Thursday night. On Friday, Carlee Johnston was an overnight guest to help young Celine celebrate her Thursday birthday. Julie brought Ann Keppler of Basett, NE up from Chadron for the weekend. Saturday visitors were Ray Olson, Brad Hammerbeck and Jennifer Trucano of Rapid City, Andy, Ben and Jacob Linn, and a host of others. Pat went to Ft. Pierre on Sunday to meet up with Stephanie at an R-CALF function at the Salebarn.
Matt Trask had a pretty slow week. All he did was accompany Matt Kelly, Amanda O’Dea, and Marshall Stangle to the football game on Thursday in Philip, and visit at the Morris Linns Sunday night.
Jim and Caroline Wilsey returned Monday from Pierre, where they had gone to visit friends. Sunday visitors at the Wilseys were Bruce and Holly Wilsey of Sioux Falls and the Pauleys.
As you can see, it was a rather sedate week here in Elm Springs. Most of the kind citizens are busy cutting wood and moving cattle in preparation for winter.
In case you had forgotten, you are once again cordially invited to the ElmSprings Halloween party and attending frivolities at the Elm Springs Hall on Saturday, October 29th, beginning at 5 pm, with Fire Hall tours beginning at 3.
