The Elm Springs News

January 15, 2007

We have received several small acumulations of snow here in Elm Springs, which our trusty janitor the North Wind removes while we are sleeping.

There was a new twist on the monthly court whist tournament. The People Who Play Cards met at the Elm Springs Fire Hall for the January tournament, hosted by Lawrence Burke and Clyde Arneson. The idea was a success. Marvin Anders got 1st, Bruce Wilsey, substituting for Jim Wilsey who is in Texas, got 2nd, and Cary Johnston got 3rd.

There is really not much news this week. Here we go;

Marvin, Carolyn and Baxter Anders went over the river and through the woods to Casey Trask’s House again on Saturday for dinner. Marvin and Carolyn were Sunday dinner guests at the Rod and Kelly Anders residence.

Kellie Linn visited the new Lynn and Sandy Fields residence on Thursday. Saturday, Lynn and Sandy attended an appreciation party put on by their contractor, which was held at the Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City.

Andy and Kellie Linn and children visited the Larry Gravatt residence Friday afternoon, partly to meet Teddy the pomeranian poodle.

Shirrise Linn and Cheryl Simons went to Rapid City Tuesday for appointments. Carter Elshere was an after school visitor at the Morris Linns. Cheryl Simons returned home Wednesday, and Jack was happy to have her back. Morris took Kassandra to Wall on Friday for her piano lesson. Roger Shull arrived at the Morris Linns on Saturday to help finish the bathroom. Matt Trask was an evening visitor. On Sunday, while Morris and Roger, who had spent the night, continued working on the bathroom, Shirrise went to the Juliet Bed and Breakfast near Opal to attend an overnight stamping party with Dana Keffeler and Joy and Kim Smiley.

Sam Johnston and Andy Linn took the Johnston and Linn children to Wall Saturday for a basketball scrimmage/practice.

Mayzee and Mattee Pauley returned to Elm Springs from Denver Monday morning, where they had attended the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo with their brother Jesse Bail.

Jim Mathis of Mt. Vernon was an overnight guest at the Cary Tines residence Wednesday night. Cary and Pam attended Tanya Jensen’s 40th birthday party at the Ron and Joan Racicky residence in New Underwood Saturday.

Even the “Upland Trasks” don’t have much. Julie, Austin and Celine went to Philip Friday to watch Joe participate in the first day of the Philip Wrestling Tournament. Nick left Friday on an extended business trip, with the principal destination being Cresco, IA. Borrowing a few pages from the Matt Trask handbook, Nick carefully planned his route with overnight stops at the Carmelite Convent guesthouse in Alexandria, the Wade and Marian Eberhard weekend residence in Okoboji, IA, and the Chad Schlecter residence near Polo. Philip Wilson was a visitor at the “Upland Trask” residence on Saturday.

Matt Trask has begun giving his brother Austin lessons on the bass guitar. These are usually on Sunday.

Matt Trask was a coffee guest at Al and Bridget’s Castle Thursday morning.

Philip, Mary Kay and Pam Wilson went to Wall Friday night to watch the Wall Eagles in an exciting basketball win. And in Minneapolis, MN, Amy Wilson Wolberg turned thirty years old on Saturday, amidst college friends from Brookings. Pam Wilson left Elm Springs for Brookings on Sunday.

And that’s it. The kind citizens hope you have a wonderful week.
