The Elm Springs News

The kind citizens enjoyed a week of cool weather, although it was a bit breezy at times.
Several of the kind citizens attended a 60th birthday party for the Rev. Harold Delbridge at the Melvin and Dorothy Anderson residence on a very windy Monday. Guests enjoyed an outdoor potluck with roast beef sandwiches and cowboy coffee, and guests with horses enjoyed an hour or so horseback ride around the ranch.
Young Joseph Trask, with RoseMary, Maria and Celine and several other kind citizens in attendance, became King “Upland Trask” the Third at the Wall High School Homecoming Coronation Friday afternoon. He follows in the royal footsteps of brothers Al and John Paul. Cary Johnston remarked that the “Elm Springs boys shined up real nice” for the coronation. Homecoming Queen was the lovely Ms. Mary Shull of Wall. The Wall Eagles went on to win their football game against Jones County by a wide margin.
The Elm Springs schoolchildren, accompanied mostly by their parents, competed in a basketball tournament in Union Center Thursday evening. The basketball team is coached by Allen Hockenbary and Sam Johnston. And the Elm Springs schoolgirls competed with the Meade County volleyball team at the volleyball tournament in Wall on Saturday.

Matt Trask accompanied the Wilson brothers to the Butch Pipal residence Thursday afternoon to prepare for the Wilson cattle drive. When they had finished preparations, the group went to the Red Rock in Wall to eat supper. Afterwards they went to the Norman Eisenbraun residence where, to Matt’s immense delight, Marsha pulled a fresh apple pie out of the oven. While Matt was eating pie, he got Norman to sharpen his pocketknife. What a life! Matt Trask visited the Larry Volmer residence on Sunday.
The Wilson brothers and their cows, assisted by several kind citizens, arrived home in record time on Saturday. Pam Wilson arrived at the Philip Wilson residence Friday night from Brookings for the weekend.
