The ESN; Barack and a Blizzard

The largest news item in this weeks ESN is the blizzard which began Wednesday and ran through Friday morning. The blizzard, which is already being compared to the legendary Blizzard of ‘49, wiped out power in much of western South Dakota, drifted over fences, and killed some livestock. The kind citizens, who were without electricity for at least 36 hours, became reacquainted with their woodstoves and outhouses on Thursday. (more…)

I did my podcast Wednesday night, turned out the lights and went to bed.  It had been a long cold rainy day moving cows.

When I got up Thursday morning, there were no lights and Old Man Winter was waiting for me outside.

My house has electric heat, so without electricity I had no heat.  I had to go to HQ anyway, so I took off.  It took me an hour to get there.  I couldn’t see anything.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Welcome to my new and improved website!  It is very unfortunate for you that my debut fell on Election Day, because presidential comparisons are bound to run rampant in this post.

In my defence, I haven’t left 14 messages on your answering machine in the last two days.  And you haven’t received one flier from me in your mailbox.

Ok, back to my website; much like the aftermath of an election, there will be small adjustments in the coming days, weeks and months.  We (that would be the crack team of Cowboy Nerds here at Hubba’s House) will be refining the site, adding a new door here, repainting a wall there, stuff like that.  I’m terribly excited and you should be too!  We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.

Also, I found it interesting this morning when I logged into my Hotmail account, that the people at Hotmail chose today to redesign the Hotmail page.  It is time for change, and my timing is impeccable.
