In Memory of Lamont Hill

Conversations

Lamont Hill, 71, passed away during the Ft. Pierre to Deadwood Trailride from injuries sustained from a fall from his horse.  Blaine Nordvold was asked to write and recite a poem for Lamont at the funeral.  Unfortunately, the trailride was on a schedule and could not stop for a funeral.  I was honored to lead Blaine’s horse while he attended the funeral to read this poem-

In Remembrance of Lamont Hill

He was just a good ol’ cowboy Lord

and liked doing that the best

could you make sure his horse is saddled

when we lay Lamont to rest

Give him plenty of room to ride Lord

I’m sure he’d like it that way

ease the sorrow on his family

as you take him home today

It’s hard to say goodbye Lord

but Lamont is your child too

hug him very tenderly

as he walks along with You

We’ll meet again some day ol’ pard

but for now we’ll say goodbye

Please God rest his soul

in the peaceful heavenly sky.

Blaine is a whale of a poet along with being a great guy. I know he writes lots of these poems for those who lose loved ones.
