ESN
Matt Trask, accompanied by his horse, ran off to Ft. Pierre last Sunday for the Ft. Bennett to Ft. Pierre trailride, which is why there was no ESN last week.
While most of last weeks news must be forgotten, a few things should be mentioned. First, Johnny Tyler Tines was born to John Tines and Amanda Humphrey last Friday. Second, a bad hailstorm rolled through Elm Springs Friday evening, diminishing this years wheat crop, if not wiping it out in places. And third, Lawrence and Doris Burke returned last Tuesday from Floydada TX where Lawrence’s sister Jonelle Fawver was laid to rest.
This week, the kind citizens must have thought that Matt was going to make enough news for all of them, because there’s not much to report.
Clyde Arneson and Andy Linn went to Sturgis Thursday on business.
Lawrence Burke proudly reports that granddaughter Shawnee Burke shot 98 out of 100 clay pigeons at a girl’s shoot in Rapid City on Sunday. To say that 98 out of 100 is “good for a girl” would be sexist indeed.
Larry and Peggy Gravatt spent most of the week entertaining Peggy’s sister and niece, whose names are unfortunately unknown. On Monday, Peggy and her guests went to Sturgis and Deadwood shopping. Tuesday they went to Rapid City where they picked up Ray for lunch and a paddleboat ride in Canyon Lake. Wednesday, they picked up Ray and went to Bear Country, where a helpful bear ate the dead grasshoppers off of the grill of the car. Peggy offered to take some more grasshoppers to Bear Country. Thursday they entertained at the ranch, and Friday they went to Rapid City, where they had brunch with Ray, before the sister and niece left for Orlando Florida. Peggy’s sister spent Saturday with her daughter before hurrying home to evacuate before the arrival of Hurricane Claudette.
While Andy was in Sturgis with Clyde Thursday, Kellie Linn and kids went swimming with the Brunsch’s in Rapid City.
John and Jean Linn attended Cammack Ranch Supply’s Rancher’s Roundup in Union Center on Friday, and returned to Union Center Saturday for Jeanette Brink’s 90th birthday party at the community center.
Shirrise Linn, accompanied by Peg Ireland, flew into Rapid City from Salt Lake City, UT where she had been attending the Stampin’ Up! Convention, Monday. Shirrise drove home, picked up Kassandra and returned to Rapid City for Kassandra’s knee therapy. It should be noted that on Tuesday, Shirrise helped her dad Jack set up a profile on the popular social networking site Facebook over the phone. Al Trask and Clyde Arneson were coffee visitors at the Morris Linn residence Friday morning.
The John Tines family were supper guests at the Cary Tines residence Tuesday evening.
Matt Trask, as was noted went to Ft. Pierre on Sunday. He spent Sunday night at the Darby Nutter residence in Ft. Pierre prior to the start of the trailride, from Mission Ridge to Ft. Pierre in time for the grand opening of the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center
Friday morning. Matt spent the trailride in the company of his buddy Blaine Nordvold of Eagle Butte and all of his trail friends. Matt visited the Timmons residence on Saturday and returned home Sunday.
Muriel Kjerstad visited the “Upland Trask” residence Monday and Tuesday. Thursday, Maria Trask celebrated her 15th birthday with Shirrise and Kassandra Linn and Larry and Peggy Gravatt. On Sunday, a contingent of the “Upland Trasks” went berry picking in the Black Hills with Steve Hobart, while Nick, Al, John Paul, Joe and Austin Trask and Ryan Kjerstad went golfing in Philip.
The kind citizens say ttyl Jack lol.

If the fine citizens of Elm Springs want to see how their editor/reporter/publisher dresses when out of town, check out the photo David Montgomery posted on http://www.capjournal.com. Sweet legs. I know somebody who has more, for a price.
