Elm Springs News; Return of the CRH

March 10, 2008

The biggest general change in Elm Springs this week was the time change on Sunday, which went into effect almost everywhere else. Prepare for a week of confusion.

The Country Red Hat Ladies dusted off their red hats and purple raiment for a trip to New Underwood on Saturday. With their ranks beleaguered by prior commitments, Jean and Kellie Linn, Carolyn Anders and Twila Trask met the New Underwood Red Hat Army in New Underwood for lunch and a game of cards.

Members of the Elm Springs Township met for their semi-annual meeting at the “Upland Trask” residence.

Baxter Anders went to Sheridan WY Friday to tour the college there.

Kelsey Arneson spent Thursday and Friday nights at the Clyde Arneson residence. Clyde accompanied Nick Trask on a business trip to Enning Friday, and he and Kelsey visited the Andy Linn residence Friday evening. Clyde had dinner at the Lonnie Arneson residence Sunday afternoon.

Lonnie Arneson, assisted by Ed Dartt of Wall, called the Wall High School FFA people auction in Wall Monday night, which, it should be noted, was managed by kind citizen Joseph Trask. Lonnie Arneson and Teri Ramsdell went to Casper, WY Thursday. On the way home Friday, they had lunch with the Bill Eastmans in Spearfish.

Lawrence Burke has been distributing his new autobiographical book “Jack of All Trades, Master of None,” around the community. The book is simply charming, despite what Mr. Burke himself may tell you.

Ryan and Chrissy Elshere hosted Lonnie Arneson and Teri Ramsdell and the Sam Johnstons for supper Saturday night.

The Sam Johnstons visited Norma Pellegrin in New Underwood Friday night.

The Andy Linns visited the “Upland Trask” residence on Sunday by bicycle and automobile, except that the “Upland Trasks” were not home to receive them.

Shirrise Linn went to Rapid City Monday, where among other things, she had lunch with Peg Ireland. Matt Trask visited the Morris Linn residence Monday night. Clyde Arneson visited Tuesday, and Kassandra had a dentist appointment in Rapid City on Wednesday, after which she visited Grandma Arlene. Morris visited the “Upland Trask” residence on Friday. Sunday, Jack and Cheryl Simons, Grandma Arlene Talley, Dayton Shannon, and Matt Trask were supper guests at the Morris Linn residence.

The Cary Tines residence had nothing until Sunday night, when John Tines, Amanda Humphrey, Lainee Mae, Ty Tines, his girlfriend Brooke, JayShaun, Coby Tines, Cassidy Rieb, and JW and Dara Wrachford all showed up for supper. Talk about a big finish!

Al Trask left Friday, accompanying Tim Sullivan of Rapid City to a men’s retreat near Denver, CO. He returned Sunday. Bridget and Little Pat hosted Jonnie Jo Anders Friday night.

The “Upland Trasks” celebrated Pat’s Friday birthday with a trip Friday evening to the Coco Palace in Rapid City, in the additional company of Ray Olsen. Saturday, they hosted a birthday dinner for Pat, with Ray Olsen, Bridget and Little Pat Trask, Baxter Anders, and Patrick Wilson in attendance. On Sunday, they attended a going-away potluck for Theresa Bruch in Rapid City.

The “Elk Creek Trask” kids joined the Philip High School FFA on their ski-trip to Deer Mountain Friday.

Tom Wilsey of Tea, after attending a conference in Rapid City, spent most of the weekend at the Jim and Caroline Wilsey residence.

Kelli Wilson and the Wall High School Dance Team performed at halftime of the State “B” girls basketball tournament in Huron Thursday. And Kenny and Janet Wilson attended Shirley Staben’s funeral in Philip on Saturday.

The kind citizens hope this time change thing doesn’t get the best of you!

OK I remember you now. I’ve been wondering where the “Kings Inn” was. I’m an idiot. Thanks for the compliment!
