The Cowboys
The Cowboys
Year: 1972
Director: Mark Rydell
Starring: John Wayne, Bruce Dern, Slim Pickens, and a bunch of kids.
Wil Anderson (Wayne) needs to move cows to the railroad in Belle Fourche SD. All the adult cowboys are gone chasing gold, so Wil hires boys from the local school. Wil leaves for Belle Fourche, now having to herd kids as well as cows, in addition to dodging a gang of bad guys whose sensibilities he has offended. Includes the most well-known onscreen killing of John Wayne, which put a damper on the “killers” (Bruce Dern) career.
Quotable line: “You’re a hard man, Mr. Anderson.”
Rating: One and a half thumbs up!

Battle Creek Brawl aka Rumble in the Bronx
Grab your popcorn and a Coke-
Battle Creek Brawl aka Rumble in the Bronx
Year- 198?
Directed by- ???
Starring- Jackie Chan, and that Oriental Guy who always plays a kung fu master.
Hilariously implausible plot- as Jackie Chan battles the mafia in New York to save his family’s business, they take notice and force him to participate as their entry in the Battle Creek Brawl in Texas. Jackie’s first entry into the American Market.
Memorable quote- “At the sound of the sireeen, you may commence fightin’.”
Rating- One and a half thumbs up!

Hubba at the Movies
How about this one from a cinematic archealogical dig?
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Year: Who cares?
Directed By: Who cares?
Starring: Uh, seven guys, seven gals, other people. At the risk of sounding redundant, who cares?
Seven burly farm boy types who handily double as vaudeville singers go in search of wives. Stupidity, covered wagons and mild matrimony ensue. Gratuitous shots of shirtsleeves rolled clean up to the elbows.
Musical score includes such unforgettable classics as “Sabine (sobbin,’ get it?) Women.”
Quotable line- “Why, you’re a disgrace to the Potopi name!”
Rating- Half a thumb up.
