The ESN; Family (Reunion) Tradition
The kind citizen’s combines have taken their first tentative steps into the wheatfields of Elm Springs, as they probably have elsewhere. The consensus is that wheat harvest this year will be a long, drawn out affair.
‘Tis also the season for family reunions, as several families got together to exchange niceties over the weekend.
Matt Trask, Danny Doerr and Baxter Anders were visitors at the Marvin Anders residence Thursday afternoon.
Baxter and Dunny Anders visited the Matt Trask residence Sunday afternoon, to watch Whoever Shows Up practice for their upcoming performance (more…)

The ESN; Stop the Presses
The kind citizens received more than two inches of rain Thursday and Friday nights, for which they are very thankful. They are maybe not as thankful for the wind which accompanied it.
Members of the long-dormant Country Red Hat organization dusted off their red hats for a trip to Rapid City Monday. First, Jean, Kellie, and Emily Linn, Maxine Smith, Sandy Fields, Dorothy Anderson, Carolyn Anders, and RoseMary Trask visited the Stephanie Trask residence in Rapid City (more…)

The ESN; Farewell to Cheryl
The biggest happening this week was on Wednesday, when the kind citizens joined several hundred other people at the Community Center in Union Center for Cheryl Simons’ funeral, presided over by the Rev. Harold Delbridge. After a reception in Union Center, more than one hundred people attended the burial in Elm Springs, and reception at the Elm Springs Hall. The Morris Linns hosted friends and family throughout the week.
Clyde, Chase and Connie Arneson joined the Ryan Elsheres at the Lonnie Arneson residence for supper Wednesday night. (more…)

The ESN; And the Home of the Brave
The weather here in Elm Springs has been very appropriate for the middle of summer- balmy and warm. The kind citizens did have to contend with a violent windstorm Sunday night, which raised havoc with the windrows of hay.
Several of the kind citizens attended the funeral of Judy Madsen in New Underwood Monday.
And Cheryl Simons passed away early Friday morning, surrounded by family at the Morris Linn residence. Consequently, the Morris Linns have been surrounded by family most of the week.
Most of the kind citizens who had time to celebrate Independance Day did so either at the Wasta 4th of July Celebration or the Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche. More on that later.

ESN; Getting Hotter
We are now enjoying the first seasonably warm days of summer, although we enjoyed the unseasonably cool ones as well.
Most of the kind citizens attended the funeral of Dean Nachtigall in Rapid City on Friday.
Many of the young kind citizens and their families attended the State High School Finals Rodeo in Belle Fourche over the weekend. The Sam Johnstons stayed at the Chris Kling residence while Calder competed, and Mick Trask won the trapshooting competition at the rodeo.
Clyde and Chase Arneson had supper at the Lonnie Arneson residence Thursday night.
Lawrence and Doris Burke went to Rapid City for appointments Thursday, and afterwards had lunch with Melissa.
Ryan and Chrissy Elshere hosted Nick Trask for supper Friday night.
Peggy Gravatt entertained the Andy Linn and Jamie Brunsch children on Friday.
