The ESN; Telephones and Football

The weather here in Elm Springs alternated maddeningly between cold and hot, and Sunday was miserably windy. Most of the kind citizens went to Wall on Saturday to attend either the Golden West Annual meeting or the Wall/Phillip football game or both, while one or two attended the Lutheran Ladies Bazaar. The Wall/Philip game, at two in the afternoon on an unseasonably hot day, turned into a route as the Eagles lost their wings. Clyde Arneson was a Friday morning coffee guest at the Morris Linn residence. Melissa Burke visited the Lawrence Burke residence Monday and stayed Monday night. (more…)

The ESN; Busy Busy!

The kind citizens experienced a rather drizzly, rather windy week this week.

Waylon Kenneth Wilson, son of Tyler and Heather Wilson of Wright WY was baptized Sunday morning at St. Margarets Catholic Church in Lakeside.

Clyde Arneson was a coffee visitor at the Cary Tines residence Saturday morning, where he had to “reintroduce (himself).”

Terri Ramsdell went to Rapid City Tuesday to have dinner with daughters Lauren and Kylie.  Terri’s friend Judy Ritter arrived at the Lonnie Arneson residence Friday to spend the weekend having fun.  Poor Lonnie apparently didn’t get to (more…)

The ESN; Cool Weather

The weather was very wet and cool this week, causing the kind citizens to dig their jackets out of their closets.  Sunday was very windy.

Several of the kind citizens went to Wall Friday night, where the Wall football team soundly drubbed the New Underwood team.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders had supper Thursday night with Clint and Marilyn Lineberry of Sioux City in Wall.  On Friday Carolyn returned to Wall where she met with Jo Strong, Lucy Bradley and Helen Kinkade for a trip through the Badlands. (more…)

The ESN; Picnics and Parties

The weather was unremarkable last week, except maybe for the fact that it didn’t rain.

The Elm Springs schoolchildren, eleven of them, returned to school Monday.

Shirrise Linn hosted the WTL club Monday. Members in attendance besides Shirrise were Jean Linn, Caroline Wilsey, and Margee and Skyler Willey.

Clyde and Connie Arneson attended Clyde’s 40th high school reunion at the Lamphere Campground near Sturgis Saturday. (more…)

ESN; End of Summer

The Central States Fair in Rapid City marked the end of summer for many in Elm Springs. Our last great hurrah is next weekend, but the children are already being lost to school.

The Marvin Anders’ joined the Casey Trasks at the Rod Anders residence Wednesday evening for a barbeque. On Saturday, Carolyn Anders, Shirley and Courtney Trask, Pam Livermont, Colleen Peterson, Twila Trask and Cary Johnston met Kirk and Kathy Cordes and Wilbur and Jean Bachand in Hill City to “celebrate birthdays.”

Clyde and Connie Arneson attended the Range Days Rodeo at the Fair on Thursday.

Lawrence and Doris Burke visited the Artist Ride at the Schearer Ranch on Saturday. (more…)
