The ESN; Tying the Knot
Although the weather is heating up here in Elm Springs, the Wilson brothers have a snowbank in a shady draw in their spring pasture. The snowbank, as of last Saturday, measured approximately four feet deep by thirty feet long. The general consensus is that if the month of May had been more precipitous the snowbank would be gone, and it is not expected to last until the fourth of July, but we will keep an eye on it.
The Elm Springs Memorial Day program was a well attended success Monday, with performances by Emily Linn, Laura Wilsey and Joanne Fenner among others, piano accompaniment by Myrna Smith, and benediction and speech by the Reverend Harold Delbridge.

Dan Johnson; 1950-Not Long Enough

HH Vcast Program; Elm Springs Cemetery
We got a lot done at home, and a lot done on the Historic Elm Springs Cemetery today.
It should be noted that somehow the potluck was canceled for lack of attendance. Very strange indeed!

In Pictures; One Graduation in Particular
My Bonnie graduated from the University of South Dakota’s West River nursing school last Saturday. The USD West River nursing school was a two-year off campus nuring program, and Bonnie was part of that group’s online program. Of course the ceremony was just to recognize that the participants had completed the program, since they all still have to pass the State Nursing Exam, which may be why Bonnie kept saying that it hadn’t sunk in yet.
But anyway, Bonnie, dressed in black scrub pants and a red scrub top with black accents joined her identically attired class (I called them the “USD racing team”) at Mt. Rushmore on a beautiful May Saturday morning. It was the sort of morning where you weren’t quite sure whether to take your jacket off or leave it on. (more…)
