The ESN; A little Spring & a Broken Wrist

 

We had our first real taste of spring this week, with temperatures pushing 80 degrees, only to have more light snow during the weekend.

The Elm Springs school’s upper grades competed in the Civic Oration Contest in Union Center on Wednesday.

And Maria Trask, accompanied by Peggy Gravatt, attended Special Olympics in Spearfish on Friday. For perhaps the third year in a row, inclement weather forced the event indoors, which eliminated all but one of the events, the 100 yard dash. Maria placed first. (more…)

The ESN; Hello Sun!

The kind citizens enthusiastically welcomed the sun back into their lives, and marveled at how bright it was.

The Elm Springs School held its Easter Party on Monday, where the children had fun plucking eggs from snowbanks.

Several of the kind citizens attended the Cammack Ranch Supply open house on Thursday or Friday, or both. (more…)

Big Dan; Stop & Go

Will hurried toward me and Joe.  He was wearing a cap which was too big for him, so after he got down from the pickup I couldn’t see his face anymore.

Joe turned me a bit and wrapped the reins around my neck.  After a bit of commotion off to my left, Will plopped down in the saddle on top of me.  I wasn’t sure for a second how it happened, but I finally decided that Joe had just lifted him up.

Joe stood there for a bit holding the reins.  I could feel Will shaking up on top of me, but I was too tired to get excited.  After a few words with Will, I could feel Joe hand the reins to him.  By the time Joe handed Will the reins, he had settled down a bit. (more…)
