Authors note: Circumstances force me to cut this week’s installment a bit short. I have also decided that this is more or less the end of Chapter 1, as it were.

Shall We Gather
Today is Wednesday. Podcast Wednesday and as it happens, Ash Wednesday.
I got home last night trying to figure out a way to film a podcast by myself. I discovered that my internet service was down, making the whole thing a moot point.
Today started without any coffee way too early. Indeed, at one point in my morning, I parked the tractor and took a nap. I am finally getting my first cup of coffee now.
Add to that the fact that I have several hours more work, and I have to be in church at 5 pm to get the sooty Mark of Christ on my forehead, and you can see that there ain’t no podcast in the cards today.

The ESN; New Organ
Several of the kind citizens, including all three Linn families, attended the funeral of JoAnn Holst in Sturgis on Saturday.
Marvin Anders went to Philip on Tuesday for a dentist appointment, and Marvin and Carolyn went to Sturgis Thursday on business.
It was a busy week for dentists. Clyde and Connie Arneson visited the dentist in Sturgis on Monday. Clyde and Andy Linn, accompanied by Danny Arneson of Red Owl (more…)

Big Dan; The Sale
“I told you cowboy, you got him,” Lee said. “You’re a hand all right!”
Will was sliding off before Lee even got hold of the reins.
Will half ran to his mom, Beth, who was behind and to one side of Lee, in front of me. Behind me I could hear Joe walking towards us. It seemed like everyone but Lee had seen that Will and I didn’t get along at all, and that Will wasn’t a “hand.”
Beth especially, didn’t seem to care for me at all. She hugged Will to her side, like she was protecting him from me. It looked like she wanted me and Lee to leave, and the sooner the better. I couldn’t have agreed more. (more…)
