Thanksgiving Blessings
The Faith Independent this week ran a charming little piece recognizable to any reader of a small town newspaper: “What the first graders are thankful for.” One student submitted the following-
“I am thankful for food and water because I need it to survive. I am thankful for my house because it keeps my family safe. I am thankful for my church because it keeps God safe.”
I am sure that God is thankful as well.

Ranch Family of the Year
Saturday evening, most of my family went to Ft. Pierre South Dakota, where we were among the extended Trask family honored as “Ranch Family of the Year” at the Casey Tibbs Foundation Tribute Dinner. My cousin Mark was chosen in advance to give the speech for the family, and dressed to the nines with a textured pink tie (I had no idea he had such fashion sense) he did an excellent job. When he finished the MC asked Uncle Milton if he had anything to say. “No,” said Milton, “Mark pretty much said it all.”
I also got to see my buddies Blaine Nordvold, Darby Nutter, and Arlen Keyser, who I met on or through the Ft. Pierre to Deadwood Trailride. I ended up staying at Darby Nutter’s place outside of Ft. Pierre.
So here’s to the Trasks, 2008 Ranch Family of the Year!
