A Love Story

I am trying to reinvent myself as Baxter Black, without the weatherbeaten face or the humongous moustache, so I may as well start telling stories right now.

            My dad is in the process of finding another milk cow, which reminds me of a really good story.

            My dad possesses the beautiful and tragic flaw of all cattlemen, an empathy for his cows.  Each cow in his care is his friend, and their sacrifices for his well-being should not be taken for granted.  He would gladly walk across the desert to give a cow a drink of water.  By my own classification, I must not be a cattleman, because I do not share such sentiments.

            Of course to a man such as my dad, a milk cow has an even greater responsibility, and therefore should be treated with even more respect and affection.
