The Catholic kind citizens of Elm Springs began their Lenten privations Wednesday, and so at times throughout the next forty days, one might have to bear in mind that they really are kind citizens.
In other news, amid rather pleasant weather, newborn calves are starting to appear here and there.
Clyde Arneson made his annual “tax trip” to Faith Tuesday. Clyde reports enjoying this annual excursion immensely. Friday, he and Morris Linn went to Sturgis to conduct other business.
Clint Hammerstrom visited the Lonnie Arneson residence Sunday night.
Jake Hall visited the Lawrence and Doris Burke residence Tuesday. Saturday, Lawrence and Doris had dinner with Melissa Burke in Rapid City.
Lynn and Sandy Fields attended the funeral of Billie Orhtman in Black Hawk Friday.
Sam and Cary Johnston accompanied Kim and Colleen Kling to supper in Spearfish Friday night.
Andy and Kelli Linn left their children in the care of Grandpa and Grandma Linn and left Thursday for Denver CO, to watch nephew Nick Ross wrestling at the Colorado High School Wrestling Tournament, where he placed first in the 145 lb. Weight class. It should be noted that 23 years ago, his uncle Scott placed first in the same weight class, while his father Jeff placed 2nd in the 138 lb. Class.
Wednesday, Shirrise and Kassandra Linn had supper in Wall with Sandy Van Vleck after piano practice. Thursday, Shirrise and Kassandra went to Rapid City and had lunch with Misti and Statler Walker.
Friday, Kassandra spent with cousin Jacob at Grandpa and Grandma Linn’s. Saturday, Chuck and Sandy Van Vleck of Wall visited the Morris Linns for an afternoon of fun and scrapbooking. And Matt Trask was a visitor Sunday night
The Brady O’Rourkes played host to the “Upland Trasks” Friday and Saturday as they sorted and loaded cattle.
Bud and Bunny Pauley took several of the little girls of the community on a trip to Pierre over the weekend.
Jim and Myrna Smith traveled to Dupree Friday night to watch a Rapid City Christian basketball game.
Wendy Parmenter of Wyoming was a guest at the Cary Tines residence last Saturday. This weeks guests were, on Wednesday, Nick and Al Trask and George Micheal, and Sunday, John Tines and his friend Nick and Cary’s mother Natalie Termes.
The “Elk Creek Trasks” spent Saturday at a high school wrestling tournament in Rapid City. Dace Kelly of Midland was an overnight guest at the “Elk Creek Trasks” Saturday night, and Sunday they attended the AAU wrestling tournament in Wall.
The “Upland Trasks” entertained a boatload of people, including Mike Morrison, Coby Tines, Sean Troxel, Wyatt Humphrey, Micheal Luedeman and others. Trips to town were really too numerous to mention. John Paul and Joseph Trask each placed second in their weight class at the regional wrestling tournament in Rapid City.
Jim and Caroline Wilsey hosted Wayne and Jean Miller of Brandon Sunday and Monday. Saturday, they attended a birthday party in New Underwood for Joan Thorson of Keystone.
Philip and Mary Kay Wilson attended the regional gymnastics tournament in Hot Springs Friday, where Pam qualified for the vault.
Kenny Wilson celebrated his birthday in grand style Saturday at his home. Birthday well-wishers were Kevin, Joan, Danny and Drew Howland; Philip, Mary Kay, Patrick and Pam Wilson; Bruce and Linda Kroetch; Julie and Carson Daly; Tucky, Linda, and Kevin Tift; Carolyn Brech; Norman and Marsha Eisenbraun; Becky, Skyler and Brodie Eisenbraun, and Jack and Phyliss Curtis.
Dara Wrachfords mother Darby Harris spent the week at the “Brustol AFB.” Dara attended a convention in Louisville, KY over the weekend. Visitors at the “Brustol AFB” over the week included Pam Tines, Amanda Humphrey, John Tines and Nick.
