The Elm Springs News

January 28, 2007

The weather in Elm Springs this week was absolutely gorgeous until Friday night, when the temperature dropped and the wind started blowing.

Marvin and Carolyn Anders returned Wednesday from a week-long stay in the southwest. They flew to Las Vegas, NV last Wednesday where they met Ken and Belva Reilly. The four then motored through Arizona and Utah before the Anders’ returned home.

Matt Trask visited the Lawrence Burke residence Tuesday, Clyde Arneson was a coffee visitor there Wednesday, and the Burke’s went to Sturgis on business Thursday. Matt Trask and the Burke’s have begun a CD exchange program. So far, Lawrence has traded Chet Atkins and Mark Knopler’s “Neck and Neck” for “Chet Atkins Picks on the Beatles” and JD Crowe and the New South’s “My Home Ain’t In the Hall of Fame.” All of the above are obviously very obscure recordings.

Larry and Peggy Gravatt went to Rapid City Wednesday to keep appointments and visit Jack. Matt and Maria Trask, on their way home from church Sunday, encountered Larry and Peggy standing near the end of their driveway and stopped to visit.

Before Ben Linn’s Wednesday guitar lesson, Matt Trask sat down to try his hand at cribbage again, this time in a three-hand game against Andy and Emily Linn. After gaining and keeping a comfortable lead through the course of the game, Matt was beaten by Andy at the finish line for lack of one point. Matt did much better in the eating contest which followed. In other news, the Andy Linns had supper at the Sam Johnston residence Saturday night, Andy and Ben attended a horse sale at the Seven Downs Arena near Spearfish Sunday, and Clyde Arneson was a supper guest Sunday night.

The Pauley’s went to Rapid City Friday night to watch Jesse Bail ride in the Extreme Bulls event at the Stock Show, and returned Saturday for the same purpose. Bunny and Mayzee attended the same horse sale on Sunday that Andy and Ben Linn did.

Amanda Humphrey and Billy Jean Pippert were overnight guests at the Cary Tines residence Friday night. Matt Trask visited briefly Friday night as well. Cary and Pam attended a barbeque at the Alfred and Serena Rice residence Saturday night.

The “Elk Creek Trasks” went toWagner Saturday to watch Mark and Mick wrestle in a dual there.

And the “Upland Trasks” had a slow week. RoseMary and Gemma went to Rapid City for appointments Thursday, and RoseMary, Matt and the Three Little Girls went to Faith Friday night to watch Austin play basketball. Pat and Joe went to Rapid Sunday afternoon. Visitors for the week included Morris Linn, John Madsen, and Wren Crawford of Nebraska.

Nick and Joe Trask, Patrick Wilson and Clay Tines were visitors at the Matt Trask residence Saturday night.

Jim and CarolineWilsey went the Extreme Bulls event in Rapid City Friday night. Tom and Ashley Wilsey of Tea spent Saturday and Sunday night at the Jim Wilsey residence on their way to pick up more of Ashley’s belongings in Rapid City. She has found a job in Wisconsin and will soon be moving there.

Kenny, Janet and Kelli Wilson attended Carolyn Breck’s birthday party in Chadron, NE on Saturday.

And Philip and Mary Kay Wilson went to Sturgis Thursday to watch Kelli compete in a gymnastics tournament.

The kind citizens hope you have a nice week.
